The battle was long and grueling, several soldiers were left wounded by the assault of the feared dragon knight Volga. Despite the mass injuries, the Allied forces returned victorious, morale boosted as word of the dragon knight's defeat spread throughout the base. The victory was led by none other than Link, the trainee turned Hero with a heart of gold, and Impa, the stoic Sheikah general and personal guard of princess Zelda herself. The two faced the dragon knight planning to force his retreat, but the fierce warrior's stubborn pride had led to his inevitable capture. The Sheikah general was very pleased at having the dragon knight subdued and under their control but Link, however, kept throwing apologetic glances over his shoulder towards the chained up knight, his ability to transform into a dragon sealed and subdued by the water sage, Ruto. "I'm glad we were finally able to capture him," Lana started, "But is it really the best idea to bring him back to our base? What if some of his forces are following us right now and waiting to attack?" Impa turned to glance at Lana before speaking,  "I share your concern, however it is my duty to ensure the princess' safety, and I would never do something to put her life in danger. His powers are sealed and he is at our mercy.. he is nothing more than a man now." Impa's remark earned an enraged, guttural growl from Volga, who fought in his chains to lunge towards the Sheikah warrior. As the group approached the base, Link slowed his pace to hang back with the dragon knight.  "I have nothing to say to you fairy boy, you and your forces have stripped me of my birthright, shackled me in this undignified way, and have taken me prisoner. Where is the honor in taking a prisoner?" Volga spat in hatred. Link said nothing at first, hanging his head and casting his gaze to the ground. Before the group entered the gates to the East Field Keep, Link spoke softly so that only the man beside him could hear: "I never imagined this would happen.. I'm sorry.." The apology caught the enraged knight off guard, before he scoffed and turned his head away from the hero.

"Show some respect, you stand before the princess of Hyrule." Impa hatefully spat at Volga. Volga growled deep in his chest, "I would never kneel to this puterelle. None of you pathetic excuses for warriors are worthy of my time or respect, none of you except the fairy boy. How embarrassing for you, a seasoned general, to be shown up by this amateur fighter, though it is worse on my end, I will admit, to have been bested twice by this warrior." Zelda had requested Volga's presence in hopes to persuade him to offer his strength to the forces of Hyrule, but now as he stands before her, Zelda started to see just how much of a challenge this world be. Link stood to the side of Zelda, his presence requested by Impa should the unruly dragon make an attempt on her life. Link didn't pay much attention to anything being said for the moment, his eyes set on the form of Volga slumped on the floor, still weak from the previous battle, and now Impa's attempts to subdue him further. "I did not ask for you to be a prisoner Volga, but you forced my hand. It was supposed to be a harmless yet firm confrontation in an attempt to make you an offer, but your aggression left us no other option." Zelda started calmly. If she was nervous or wary of the knight before her, she didn't show it. "Make me an offer? You possess nothing I want. Don't waste your breath any further." Zelda smiled politely, "I suppose we could release you now, just know that the seal on your powers won't be removed." This caught the attention of Volga, and surprisingly Link as well. He looked warily at his princess, hoping this was an empty threat only serving to make the knight listen. "You Hylians really are cowards.. I suppose I can humor you, I don't seem to have the choice at this point."

The negotiating went back and forth for longer than anyone had previously thought. Zelda grew tired of Volga's rudeness and was on the brink of sending him to the prison chambers until he would comply. Just as Zelda was about to voice this thought, she felt a gentle tap on her shoulder. It was none other than Link, nervously gesturing to speak with her in private. Zelda agreed and stepped just outside the keep with Link. Before she could ask Link quietly spoke, "Let me talk to him, alone. He may not have the respect to listen to you or Impa, but he said so himself, ive earned it.. You know I can handle him if he gets out of control, but I just feel like maybe it's worth a shot. I mean, it's not like we're really getting anywhere as is." Zelda thought on his words before nodding. "It's worth a shot, I trust your judgment. Just be careful, he's proven to be quite intolerable."

The room was empty except for Volga and Link, neither one willing to break the silence until they were certain no prying ears were listening from beyond the doors of the keep. "You've cleared the room for a reason, would you care to elaborate, or are we going to just stare idly at each other?" Volga said finally breaking the silence, though he'd be lying if he said he didn't find the hero to be pleasing to the eye. He'd never admit it out loud, but ever since he first met the hero on the battlefield he found himself stricken by the amount of beauty one human could hold. It was the boy's deep blue eyes that captured Volga first, the way his eyes could hold the calmest waters one moment and then a raging storm the next truly puzzled the knight. But his eyes weren't just aesthetically pleasing, they held something Volga craved to see in another living being, something that made every impulse the dragon knight had to hoard the boy to himself uncontrollably unbearable: the resolve and fierce determination to not be beaten in battle. Volga had first seen this as he had Link pinned to the ground in Hyrule Field. His weapon was out of his reach, he couldn't push the knight away, and yet he continued to fight for his life, refusing to die without a thorough fight. This excited Volga to no end, never in the thousands of years he's lived nor the countless foes he's defeated had he ever faced a warrior so bold, so determined, so fearless in the face of certain death. It made Volga want nothing more than to take the boy back to his lair and hoard him with the rest of his treasures. This want alone is the only reason Volga didn't strike him down where he stood all those many times on the battlefield. Volga was shaken from his thoughts when he finally noticed that the hero had been speaking, only to find himself catching presumably the end of his speech. "So please.. at least think about joining us.. we fight a common enemy, so why can't we fight together? If not for Hyrule, fight for yourself. Fight for the wrongs Cia has dealt you. Had it not been for her, you never would've been involved in this war. You wouldn't be here, now, with no control to your power. I can't promise that things would go smoothly, but I know that I can promise to stand with you as your ally even if the rest of the forces despise you. If you need time to think it over, I'll understand, but please.. just hear us out and-"
"Do you realize how pathetic it sounds to hear you beg? You're a warrior now act like it. Nonetheless, you are right. We share a common enemy, while we prattle away fighting each other, that wench gets further and further away. I will fight along your side, but your side alone. I don't care much for the rest of this pathetic army, but you have gained my respect. I will stand with you on the battlefield, only if that wretched Sheikah removes the seal on my powers and restores my birthright to my full control." Link smiled up at the dragon knight and nodded, happy to hear the answer.

After a long talk with Zelda and an even longer one with Impa, Volga was freed from his chains and the seal was lifted from his powers. The entirety of the Hyrulean forces were on edge as word of Volga's allegiance became public. Everywhere Volga went was followed by anyone in the area fleeing for their life, not that the dragon knight would complain. This continued for a while, his only companion being himself, and Link, remaining true to his promise and treating Volga like he did all the rest. Hylian soldiers began to think that the hero had lost his mind, just days prior the knight was trying to kill him, yet the he sat, trying to make conversation with Volga anyways.  Everywhere Volga was, Link was never that far behind, even when Volga would insult him and cast him aside, Link would stay with a gentle smile on his face. The smile on the hero's face never failed to make something in the dragon's chest flutter. It felt as if his internal flame was being smothered, stolen right out of his chest each time he saw the boy smile. Volga didn't know what the feeling was, and he didn't care to find out either.
