A/N: So I can 100% say upfront and honestly that this will be terrible because in every zelda game I have played (besides Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild) I never see how Link and Zelda would end up together. They're just strangers and I dont see how it could happen, but regardless of that I have taken up this request for BellaDremmurr I am so sorry in advance that this is as bad as it is, this just isnt a good relationship for me to write ^^"

It's been five years since the evil king has been defeated. Midna returned to her realm, Zelda returned peace to her kingdom, and Link had finally returned home to his village of Ordon. The return was a joyous one, the children had returned, Link was unharmed, everything could go back to the way it was.

Link was working on Fado's Ranch, and he does every day, when he was called out of the corral by Fado. "The Princess is here to see you Link. She's waiting for you outside your house." Link nodded, checking on the goats one last time before leaving, making sure the gate was firmly secured behind him.

His walk to his house was quite eventful. The children, having heard that the princess was waiting for him, pestered him the entire time asking what he would be doing this time. It was true that the Princess had called upon him multiple times since Ganondorf had been defeated. It was also true that with all that time spent together, Link began looking forward to the times he got to see her again.

As Link approached his house, Zelda sent him a warm smile, a small wave sent to the children crowded around him as well. "I'm sorry to call you away from your work here, but it would seem I need to ask you to lend your strength once more." Zelda spoke with her calm voice. "Oh man, is Link gonna go fight stuff again!? He is so cool!" Talo shouted from beside the hero in question. Link apologized nervously for his outburst, which was waved off by Zelda who only chuckled. "He certainly might, if he agrees that is. I understand that I ask a lot from you from time to time, but I know I can trust your strength." Link smiled softly, "Of course I'll help, your majesty. You never ask too much of me, I enjoy helping in any way I can."
"He is so in love with her." Beth mumbled to Colin, making Link's face turn red in hopes that Zelda didnt hear. "I hope it isnt too much trouble to ask you to leave with me now? It's just that, should we leave now, we would make it by nightfall. The cover of darkness would be the best time to strike." Link nodded along, "Of course I can head out now, but you really want to come with me? That doesn't seem safe, I should take you back to the castle and head out on my o-" the princess raised her hand to silence him. "I am quite capable of handling myself Link, I'd like to think you know that by now. Go and prepare, I will be waiting here until you are ready."

The princess and her knight traveled in silence, the clip clops of their horse's hooves echoing on the ground. "I didnt think it would be that easy." Link spoke, breaking the silence. Zelda only nodded, her face stoic, eyes betraying the thoughts that swirled in her head. "Princess?" Link spoke louder, finally gaining her attention. "I'm afraid I was thinking to myself again.. you said something, hero?" Link looked at his princess with a worry filled gaze. "What's on your mind? I know I'm not exactly the best in these kinds of situations, but I'm here to listen ? If that helps?" Zelda looked over the worry filled features that took over Link's face. She didnt want to lie to him, but she was also afraid of his response. "I wont lie to you, Link.." she started with a soft sight, "I knew that the problem was not that dire.. I couldve sent my guards to handle it.. the truth is, I just really wanted to see you.."
The princess's confession left a blush to creep across the hero's face, eyes averting to the ground. "You hardly come to the castle anymore.. and I enjoy spending my time with you.." Link swallowed thickly before replying. "I-I really like spending time with you too Princess.." Link couldnt bare to look her in the eyes now, but against his judgement, he did. Meeting her gaze, he found the princess with a small smile on her face. "Instead of returning to your village, why dont we just.. stay out, together?" Zelda asked, a hopeful glint in her eyes.

"There's nothing I'd like more"
