Chapter 5: Burn Baby, Burn.
Casey and I go to my room. It’s big with the walls a pale blue. My bed is huge with another red velvet blanket spread over it. There is of course a fish tank in my room with a few fish swimming around in it. I have a dresser, a bed side table, the fish tank by my large window and a massive desk with my laptop, all of my electronics such as my phone, my cell, my iPod etc and countless other things strewn across it in a messy fashion. I have pens, pencils and many other things lying all over my desk, yet I can never seem to find anything I go looking for.
Case jumps onto the bed in a rough manner whereas I just go face first towards the covers. I lie there unmoving with my face buried in the covers with my best friend sitting next to me stroking my hair. It was very weird having someone stroke my hair since my parents never did that to me when they were alive. And no I will not tell you about my parents, not now anyway.
“You want to talk about it Ash?” Casey asks softly.
I moan and roll over so I’m facing her while still lying down. “I need to. My mind has already made me so mad I froze half the stuff in my house.”
She sighs lightly. “Ash what happened?” She is all motherly like. I don’t know why my best friend that happens to be a werewolf is like this but I know for sure that I love every minute of her personality, even if it sometimes gets on my nerves.
“Well....” I tell her every single detail just like she wanted and the entire time she was listening intently.
Once I finish she squeals like the girly girl she is and I have to cover my ears. “He’s a fire element crossed with a demon!? That is so hot!”
I roll my eyes. “It is for you but not for me. I’m a water element and he’s fire. I’m and angel and he’s a demon. We are opposites Case, which means we will not get along and it also means that his demonic instinct is super pissed with me for freezing his.....” I trail off, she knows what I mean.
“Yeah I know. But it is so hot! If you and him get together it will be forbidden love.” She sighs all dreamy like.
“Case we will not get together. I hate his demon ass!” I say frustrated.
“Oh no you don’t. You love his demon ass, you just say you hate him because angels and demons, and water and fire are complete opposites and don’t get along.” She objects still all dreamy like.
“No Case. We don’t just get along, we never get along!”
She keeps on objecting and we argue for a good hour and a half.
Eventually our bickering is interrupted by a knock on the door. She gives me a look. “Expecting someone?” She asks.
“No.” I reply and grab my bat on my way to the door “Stay here” I say as I slowly inch towards the door for the second time today.
“Who’s there?” I shout through the heavy oak door.
“Seth” Is the reply.
“Go away!” I screech.
“Open the door before I set it alight!” He shouts. I can feel his heat through the door.
I don’t want to face him, but I don’t want my door to burn down to ash more. I quickly unbolt the door and it swings open to unveil a very pissed off, devilishly good looking Seth Blackthorn.
“How may I help you?” I said all innocent like as I leaned against the door frame and swung my bat to and fro.
“Tell me what you are and I will spare you and your friend the pain and suffering a demon can give” He growled out with his eyes a blood red colour.
I stopped swinging my bat and stared him straight in his eyes. “Don’t you dare hurt Casey” I growled out also, not as strong though, angels don’t growl, they say things sweetly and softly. Sweet and soft was not what I needed right now. I needed scary and threatening.
He narrowed his eyes. “You’re an angel aren’t you?” He says softly, turning his eyes back to deep blue.
“What’s it to ya?” I ask, leaning back against the doorframe.
“I knew there was a reason you took off in the exact direction Casey was in,” he says half to himself.
I scoff. “And?”
“And you shouldn’t mess with me sweetheart. I can turn you to ash in an instant. So don’t piss me off or freeze me or my friends again. Don’t even talk to me unless you have to okay? Good. Now stay away from me and I will stay away from you. We are supposed to be enemies after all and I plan to keep it that way” he growls out one last time before stalking off away from my house.
I sigh. No more talking to Seth Blackthorn as if we were people who would get along. Oh no. More like only talking through clenched teeth and being tense next to each other if we were forced to be even near the other. And he was so hot! I pout before shutting the door and heading back to my room.
Casey was waiting for me, her face alight with excitement. She opened her mouth to speak but I held up my hand to keep her quiet.
I sigh before going in a major rant about how hot he was with Casey joining in with me. Eventually we made a list as to why he should speak to me again.
I would list everything but I don’t want to because Casey and I are having a sleep over and it’s past midnight!
“Bedtime!” We both say. I curl up on a heap in the middle of the living room whereas Casey is curled up into a little ball on the couch.
“Night Case” I say with my eyelids slowly closing.
“Night Ash” She replies just as I drift off to sleep.
