The baron's study
Krista's povI heard Louie and Tristane exited by the door. I heard the creaking of the wood and the soft clicking of the lock but my mind had not been fully functioning at what was happening. I only realized that Lucian was walking towards me. His eyes locked with mine. I gulped down. I knew that look. It was something men had when they wanted to get intimate, an emotion far too primitive for any definition.
My heart was thundering against my chest and I bet he could hear it. I found myself holding my breath as I take in the sight before me. Lucian was wearing a regular white shirt and brown trousers, his hair was combed lazily away from his face; that way he looked ancient yet modern at the same time.
"Mi amour," he whispered.
I opened my mouth but nothing came out.
"Krista?"
I blinked. He was kneeling before me now, was I too preoccupied watching his beautiful face and failed to notice his movements? Not good Krista, not good at all.
"L-lucian..."
He smiled slightly, I felt his hand touched my cheek, "I am here now, love."
"Lucian.." I said again, the last syllable came out a sob. "I'm sorry."
"Whatever for?"
I averted my eyes and shook my head. My voice won't cooperate no matter how much I wish to talk. So I reached out and hugged him.
"I'm sorry.." I sobbed against his neck, Lucian was tall, even kneeling on the floor he was taller. "I'm so sorry about your brother.."
I heard him sigh, his hand rubbed my back. He said nothing. The silence was deafening. I continued to cry because I couldn't say anything. My heart bled for him.

I don't know how long we stayed like that but Lucian never stopped whispering soft french words against my ear. Some words were too foreign for me to decipher but the mere sound of his voice calmed me down. After hearing his version of how Claus sacrificed himself to save us all, to Dad's consciousness taking over before Claus got it back again, until he was taken away by the said demon. I wished I had been there for him, despite not meeting him personally, I knew he was a good man. He did not kill Yra, though he was guilty of bribing and tricking her into a trap, he was not the one at fault.Lucian also told me about Yra's image appearing before him and that she had forgiven him. Perhaps, she was now in a much better place. No more pain and suffering.
"I'm fine now." I told him and I sat back so he can breath.
He said nothing. He didn't need to anyway. I touched his cheek, I gasped at how warm he was. The corner of his lip curled up.
"I am no longer the cold mirage in your dreams, Krista. I breathe again; blood flows through my veins once more, I am alive—truly alive again."
"Oh, Lucian..."
"Do not cry, mi amour.." he mirrored my hand and touched my cheek, "I promised Claus I will make you happy. But the first thing you do after seeing me again is cry. I am lost."
I chuckled, "I am happy you idiot! These are tears of joy."
His brows furrowed, "Indeed?"
"Yes."
"Then I am happy as well." He said.
"Indeed?"
He broke into a bright smile, "Let me show you how happy I am, mi amour." Lucian pulled me against him and captured my mouth with his. Upon the touch of his lips I knew that everything will soon fall into place.
