Ovido Heights
(Dina's House)Krista's pov
We arrived back home without so much fuss. Some of Dina's friends came over to update her about some gossip and it gave me time to be alone. My room was untouched, save for the empty laundry basket. Oogy and I slumped on the bed. The luggages will have to wait. The place was so quiet that I could hear my heart beating slowly. I felt Oogy's head pressed against my shoulder, I turned my head and ruffled his fur.
"You okay bud?"
He whined and blew a deep sigh right at my face. I smiled, "You want to run, hmmm?"
When heard the word "run" his ears perked up. I looked outside and saw it was almost sunset and the weather wasn't very hot. We can do half an hour and Dina wouldn't even notice. I jumped off the bed and put on my running shoes.
***"Let's rest for a bit Oogy..." I said breathless after a few minutes of running.
Oogy did stop and stared at me with disbelieving eyes. He was just warming up while I was at the verge of fainting. I am so out of shape.
"Just 5 minutes, okay?" Then without much of a fuss, I sat down the grass. He sat next to me, his eyes alert.
The subdivision was slowly waking into the night. The street lights opened one after the other and a few cars drove by. Probably from work, off to spend their weekend with the family. It was Friday after all.
Which means I have to wear that horrible dress tomorrow. Ughh. I was thinking of ways to escape Dina while absently scratching Oggy's ears when a car parked not far from us. It was too late when I realized who was coming right at us.
"Hi..."
Enzo Iglesias.
Darn it.
I just sat there not really in the mood to exchange banters with him. Also, I didn't want to alarm my dog, if he senses I'm not comfy around Enzo, he might jump at him.
"Hey." I said back.
Enzo smiled and looked really cute with his white shirt and gray sweatpants. If I was one of the swooning types, I might've said he was breath-taking. But his looks didn't work on me. No matter how nice the goodies look on those pants.
"Can I join you?"
"Well, it's not really my lot. But there's nowhere else to sit, the grass is probably wet and your pants will be ruined—"
Enzo just flopped down as if he owned the place. That boy-next-door smile still on his annoying face. He leaned back and let his arms support his weight and appeared to be very comfortable. Like he was used to sitting on the grass all the time. Which I highly doubt. His family was rich and he probably spent his days either on the gym or visiting clubs.
"This is relaxing, Krista... I mean, I can call you Krista, right?"
No. Definitely not. "Yeah, whatever."
"Why are you always so snappy at me?"
"Shouldn't I be?"
He looked perplexed for a moment, "Well, not really. I mean, what have I ever done to you?"
"Maybe you're just not everyone's buddy."
"Hmm, I wonder about that." He shifted and peeked at Oggy, "He's yours?"
"Nice try diverting the topic but you are not touching him." God, I hoped he'd just go away.
But he just laughed it off. For a moment he just sat there not breathing a word. Normally I would've liked the silence but it was never Enzo's type to remain silent for a long period of time.
