Hello readers!
Lucian and Krista's story has finally ended. I hope you all had a wonderful time reading their story.
To my friends and relatives who have been really supportive of my writing hobby, I could never thank you enough. Your simple yet encouraging words fueled the will to continue and here I am now.
To my silent readers and avid commentors, thank you as well. Seeing that the chapter reads and comments' number rise up when they appear on my notifications gave me butterflies.
I know this is not a perfect novel and everything was just a product of my imagination, I did drew out a few inspiration from the books I've read. Victorian-era novels or anything set around that time has always been a favorite of mine. But I also wanted to combine the present time with it plus a sizzle dazzle of magic, demons, witchcraft and time travelers.
The story's idea came to me when I was spacing out (this happens when I had too much in my mind, lol) and I was just imagining a girl who saw an apparition of a man in an old house. At first, I wanted the man to be a ghost of a dead person who falls in love with the heroine. But as I began to write each chapter, the idea had turned into something else. Unlike professional authors, I do not make a lot of drafts for my plot, climax, setting, etc. I literally write the chapters as I go by. When I forget something I just read my soft copy of the previous chapters.
Biggest challenge I had in writing this one, well, I guess I have three to share:
1. My job
I work graveyard and my mind is usually active during the evening but instead of writing, I was working. So I usually wrote during my rest days or when I couldn't sleep right away.2. Health
When I started this story I was starting off with a new company. Due to adjustments with the schedule, work environment, meeting new people and studying the new skill I was supposed to use—I had insomnia, UTI and anxiety. I wouldn't say I got them all because of work but they came in all together at the same year. I battled with my UTI and finally got free off the meds, my sleeping patterns have improved and my anxiety still comes and goes. Basically, I strived to live a healthier life style.3. Personal issues
Like most grown-ups (I want to believe I am a grown-up) I went through daily my chores. Ever since I started working I was totally on my own. My family let me stay in the city and live independently. So, I learned how to budget my income to pay my rent, water and electricity bills, jeep/taxi/motor fare and food. It was fun and challenging at the same. And when I had extra, I treat myself alone with whatever women spend their extras on. Hence, my time for writing was on hold. Until I find an extra time or when another inspiration came to me.And oh, lastly:
4. Writer's block
Yes. It happens. To me, it was there everyday. Sometimes, the trick I used to overcome it is to just start composing few sentences until I actually did an entire paragraph. But often times, they're none-sense paragraphs. Sometimes I write a totally different story and when I reach a certain part that kinda links it with the one I was working on, then I resume working on the original one.Safe to say, I have several stories in my drafts. Since I have completed The Baron and His Lady, I am resuming my second book: As You Wish. But this is actually my 3rd book, I moved it to the second place because my 2nd book lost some of its chapters due to some technical error. I unpublished it but will try to revive it. *fingers crossed
I hope you guys can check out my other works: The Nightcrawlers which is a short horror story and a poem: Before, Someone which was a product of one dreary heart drowned in tequila. *wink
Until next time!
Love,
RaeySam
