The piano was an inch away from our faces when a bright light came through it. Splitting the wood before the impact threw us backwards.
I felt Lucian reached out for me and wrapped his body around mine before we landed hard on the floor. Then I blacked out again.
***It was pure luck when he managed to conjure a cutting spell. Any second of hesitation would've killed them. Allison pulled him away from the crashed piano and casted a smoke all over the place. It won't last long but it should give them a few minutes to think of a plan.
"Are you okay?" Allison asked.
"Yeah. But my fingers are numb." He replied and tried to raise his right arm but it felt heavy.
"You're lucky it didn't come off. Next time you plan on using level two magic at least warn me first." Allison massaged his arm while conducting a healing spell. "Where did you even learn that?"
"Someone in the coven taught me. But we never perfected it. I can only summon it once and this is my second time doing it." He winced as Allison closed a few scratches. " It was the only thing I thought that could stop that thing."
"You did great. Just don't use this arm so much or you'll lose it. I unclogged the veins and blood should be flowing normally now."
"Thanks. Where's Lucian and Krista?"
Allison looked around and saw then sprawled not very far. They seemed unharmed and unconscious. Lucian's life force was wavering but she noticed it coming back up and so was Krista's. She turned to Tristane and said, "They'll be fine. We need a counter attack before the smoke lifts up."
"I think we're too late." Tristane said. "I can see them clearly from here so that means...so could she."
***"Krista? Wake up." I heard a voice call out to me.
I opened my eyes and saw Lucian's face hovering over me.
"Is it...over?" I asked.
"No, not yet mi amour." He helped me sit up and wiped away the shards that clung to my clothes. "Are you hurt?"
I shook my head and looked around. The entire place was a mess. The piano laid on the floor in two separate pieces.
"What happened? Lucian, where's Allison and Tristane?"
"Right there." He pointed to a corner. "They're trying to catch the demon."
I stood up and watched as Allison conjured sharp objects next to Tristane. Together they attacked and took cover against Lilinessa. The demon was flying above and had more advantage now.
"How do we fight something like that?" I asked.
"I do not know." Lucian replied. "Let us try and hide. I know Allison is planning something. Let us wait for her signal."
I nodded and let Lucian drag me away. We found a table that's been upturned was still intact. I carefully walked over the shards of broken glass but it crunched loudly beneath my shoes.
"Sh*t.." I whispered.
"Krista, get down!" Lucian screamed.
But the warning was too late. I felt a strong force knock me from behind. My hair was caught and I knew that the demon got me. I waved my hands in the air and tried to reach her. I got long nails right now, thanks to Enzo's make over, if I can just scratch her eyes out I may have a chance.
"You are not getting away, human." The demon snarled above me. "I am not done with you yet."
"Let me go you filthy demon!" I shouted back. "You ruined my party!"
