Protector Of Everything Scary - Ai Mikaze x Reader

"Aren't you ready to get scared Ai!" I say excitedly as we walk towards our destination.

"I don't really see how it's supposed to be scary. It's just effects and people who are in costumes," my boyfriend replies back to me emotionless.

"Either way! It's all about the experience! And normally they are so good that you always end up believing it's real," I say back to him trying to fill him up with excitement, or at least more interest.

"We'll see. Just don't believe it too much or else you'll never fall asleep at night for awhile knowing you," Ai says right back to me causing me to say right back that I will not be like that at all.

After a bit more of walking underneath the moonlight me and Ai finally reach the entryway of The Haunted Forest. A group of people are already there waiting to be guided in so we go up and join them. We stand a bit separated from the group and since it's dark out Ai doesn't need to wear a disguise. I look over to Ai and see him disinterested at the things around him. I myself take a look over at the entryway.

There seems to be two trees at the sides leading into it. Both trees appear to have these really creepy masks on them. When I look into the entryway it looks as if it is almost pitch black. I feel brave and ready for what's to come, but a shadow that passes through the darkness sends goosebumps up my arms shaking my bravery ever so slightly. Then, it starts.

When I first entered the forest with Ai by my side I felt brave and excited. Now though everytime something happens wither it is someone jumping out and telling their stories, or even just birds taking off and flying. I'm getting more and more terrified everytime. Me and Ai have been at the back of the group the whole time. He still doesn't seem interested and keeps pointing everything out.

As we continue to walk I hold onto my boyfriend's arm. Suddenly I hear a rustle from behind us making me jump and close my eyes.

"It's just the wind. The wind speed picks up more at night," Ai tells me pointing out something yet again.

"A-Ai I know that. I-I'm just trying to enjoy everything to my fullest!" I say to him. He doesn't seem to reply back like I though he would. Instead he stays silent and grabs my hand that's holding onto his arm.

Now a little over halfway and ever since I told Ai about enjoying it to my fullest he has never once pointed something out again. Instead he now has an arm over my shoulder while holding my hand with his other. With us still in the back everyone hears a loud boom and the guide's flashlight goes out unispectedly. Right away I go ahead and jump into Ai. I bury my face into his chest not wanting to look at what's to cone come next.

I feel him wrap his arms around me and place his head on top of mine. He doesn't say anything but already I feel secure and protected from everything. I don't know what I would do if Ai wasn't here with me. I don't even know if I would've come or not.

A moment later I let out a sigh of relief as I'm in his arms once we hear that the flashlight is working again.

I give myself a good stretch underneath a streetlight.

"That wasn't that bad. It was quite fun actually," I say outloud to my boyfriend behind me.

"You were scared the whole time. You were even the first one out despite us being all the way in the back. Yet, you enjoyed it," Ai says to me as he joins me at my side. I look down a little and grab his arm again.

"Even though I was scared and like that the whole time. I was able to enjoy it since I had you by my side the while time! I has Ai, the Protector Of Everything Scary by my side. Everything is always enjoyable with you by my side," I say to Ai with a smile on my face as we start the walk home.

"I enjoyed it aswell," I hear Ai say towards me. I look over towards him and jump happily.

"Really?! That's great! Maybe we should go to another one next week? Though not nessicarily a forest but-" I get cut off as Ai interjects.

"It was a memorable experience but there is a ninety-eight percent chance that you won't fall asleep tonight. So if you don't fall asleep tonight then we'll have to wait till next year to go to another one again," Ai says to me. I slouch over.

"A ninety-eight percent chance? But there is still a two percent chance I will and that is good enough for me!" I say cheering myself up. I'll prove to Ai that I can easily fall asleep tonight.

Here I am in my bed, wide awake. I toss and turn yet still no tiredness washes over me. I even have the lights on since I currently can't stand being alone in the dark. I sit up and let out a agitated sigh. I don't want Ai to be right and I want to go to another haunted place sometime soon.

I let out another sigh. I lie back down and try again, yet nothing called sleep washes over me. Instead I get even more woken up once I hear a knock on my door. Reflectively I close my eyes and hide under my blankets. At first there is a moment of silence until I hear the door open and notice the lights getting turned off.

This time I hold my breath aswell and start to hear footsteps coming over towards me. I can hear my heart beating in my ears as I anticipate what's to come. Then suddenly I feel the blankets on me move off my face as someone comes in my bed and lays next to me. I feel their body right next to mine under the blankets and a scream coming. Before I could scream though their arms come up to my front and pull my back into their chest.

Then they say, "So you really couldn't fall asleep after all."

I let out my holded breath at the familiar voice. I turn my body so I'm facing them then open my eyes. Right infront of me is the person I love with all my heart. Those cyan colored eyes I love so much that look at me and protect me from everything.

"Ai! You almost killed me scaring me like that!" I say to him as I snuggle into him.

"I didn't mean to scare you. I just though that the only way that you'll be able to sleep was if I was with you," Ai says back to me as I look up at him. I let out another breath.

"So that two percent was only possible if I had you by my side all night huh," I say back to him. Instead of confirming it or not he places a kiss on my forehead then places his own on it. I myself let out a yawn seeing as sleep is finally hitting me. Slowly I close my eyes and give out a smile.

"Thank you for protecting me. You are the light in all of the darkness I see which allows me to stay calm and scared free. I never want to lose you, my light," I say and I want to add three more words at the end, but I have no idea if he will say them back or if it is too soon.

Before I fully drift off into a peaceful pleasant dream, I hear the three words from Ai that I so desperately wanted to tell him.

"Goodnight, I love you, (Y/N)."
