The next morning Jun woke up to his alarm clock beeping intensely. He lazily got up and turned it off heading downstairs to have breakfast.
As he ate his cereals, he thought about the day before, when Minghao had asked him to help him prepare for his first date. Why did he even agree to it? He cursed himself as he got up, changed, and started walking to school.
As usual, he found Minghao waiting for him in front of his house, greeting him with his beautiful smile.
"Good morning"
He said, walking next to Jun. The older couldn't help but smile at Minghao.
"Good morning"
He answered. They walked silently for a while until Minghao finally spoke up.
"She said yes"
He spoke happily, smiling wider than ever. Jun tried his best not to look jealous, but his heart was doing flip flops in his chest and his stomach hurt.
"That's great"
He managed to choke out, avoiding Minghao's gaze. The other couldn't help but notice how strange Jun was acting.
"Are you okay?"
He asked softly, looking at his best friend. Jun smiled softly, trying to hide the pain in his eyes.
"Yeah, I'm just tired"
Minghao decided not to push him and resumed to talking about his date.
"We're going out today"
Another bullet to Jun's heart. What was happening to him? He'd never felt like this before. He surely couldn't be falling for his best friend, could he? I mean, sure, he stole glances of Minghao while he changed sometimes, and when he was bored he could only think of him, and yes Minghao was very attractive and oh god Jun had a crush on his best friend.
He tried to act normal as he came to the realization that Minghao would never return his feelings, and he smiled the widest smile he could manage.
"I'm happy for you Minghao"
Minghao just smiled another one of his beautiful smiles as they entered the high school gates. They said goodbye to each other as they walked to their respective classes, Jun entering the art classroom and sitting next to his partner.
"Woah, you look like absolute shit dude"
He heard his partner, Hansol, speak up next to him.
"Wow thanks very much Hansol, I really appreciate that"
Jun said dryly, not bothering to look at his friend. Hansol suddenly got worried and started asking questions.
"Dude I'm sorry, you can talk to me? You know you can right? Is it Minghao? What did he do to you? I'll cut a bitch if I have to-"
He was suddenly cut off by Jun.
"I don't wanna talk about it"
And with that, Hansol decided to shut up and get back to staring at Seungkwan's ass, as per usual. Jun could only think of Minghao as the teacher entered the classroom and started talking. How was he gonna deal with this? Minghao was definitely straight, and Jun might not be as heterosexual as he thought he was, and what if he ruined their friendship? He couldn't risk losing Minghao. He snapped out of his thoughts when he heard the bell ring.
He quickly got up and out of the classroom and started to look for Minghao, who would usually be waiting for him by his locker. He was paralyzed when he found him talking to somebody by his classroom door. That somebody, none other than the girl he liked.
They were smiling and laughing and Jun couldn't take it.
The rest of the day was a blur, Jun didn't even bother to wait for Minghao as he quickly got out of the school as the last bell rang. Of course, as per usual, he was followed by one of his friends, Soonyoung.
"Why are you running?"
Soonyoung said exaggerately, being the meme he was as he caught his breath next to Jun. The older lied.
"I have homework to do"
If it had been any other of Jun's friends, they would've known it was better to just shut up in that moment, but Soonyoung was way too hyper and curious and just couldn't stay calm.
"Ohhhhh don't be like that! You didn't even wait for Minghao"
He pouted, tugging on Jun's sleeve, and the older just wasn't in the mood for it.
"Soonyoung, just go chase Jihoon around or something"
He spoke, quickening his pace. Soonyoung wasn't exactly bright, and his eyes immediately lit up at the mention of Jihoon. He spotted the short boy walking next to Hansol on the other side of the road, and quickly abandoned Jun.
As Jun arrived home, he entered his room and immediately laid down on his bed.
Why me?
He thought to himself, remembering Minghao's smile as he spoke to that girl. They were probably out on their date right now. Jun's stomach twisted at the thought of that.
What are you doing to me, Minghao?
