GRABE, ANG GALING-GALING NIYA TALAGA NO, Kuya?" Mae Rodriguez enthused over dinner. She was home earlier than usual after her employer's latest shoot was cut short due to an impending thunderstorm; their location was in an open field and although Alex Valdez plays a superhero on TV, he was just an average Joe in real life so they can't risk him running around the wide open field and accidentally get electrocuted by a stray lightning; that won't make for good ratings if fans of the show – especially the kids – were disillusioned that their superhero was struck down by lightning while filming.
"Sinuswerte lang siya," scoffed Mae's older brother, Kael.
Mae pulled the broadsheet she was reading down and glared at her brother. Since she was often on call practically 24/7 as P.A. to Alex Valdez, she barely have time to sit down and read the newspaper.
"Anong sinuswerte? Eh si Valor kaya ang real-life superhero hindi yung Alex Valdez na yun!" She glared.
"At bakit mo naman ikinompare yung boss mo jan sa vigilante na yan, hm?"
"Dahil halos lahat ng madlang people eh iniisip na si Valor at yung character ni Alex is one and the same. As if Alex Valdez can actually kick butt and take names," she scoffed.
Kael's response was a mere eyebrow raising and continued eating. He knew it would be pointless to win an argument against Mae especially when she was in her hero-worshipping mode, and right now she was full-on hero-worshipping the city's notorious vigilante hero.
"Ikaw kung makapagsalita ka parang hindi mo boss si Alex Valdez."
"Sometimes I wish he wasn't my boss," Mae mumbled before straightening the broadsheet and pulled it up to cover her suddenly reddening face.
She has been working as personal assistant to Alex Valdez for close to a year now. She came onboard his team just before Superhero Mo, Alex's hit superhero-themed television series, started. He was still working on a different series back when she got hired, but he wasn't a cast regular nor was he one of the main characters so his schedule wasn't as tight and busy like now.
Mae's secretly crushed on her employer long before she found out the PA position she applied for was for his PA. She first fell in-crush with Alex Valdez right when his dimpled angelic face graced the pages of a glossy magazine; he was a model for one of the ads and although there were at least a few other hot looking guys on the page with him, Mae's eyes zeroed in on the boyish looking mestiso with a dimpled smile. She never in her life imagined she'd wound up working for him!
"Why not? Dahil gusto mo siyang maging jowa?" Kael teased.
"Hindi no," Mae denied but she refused to lower the newspaper and look her brother in the eyes. She can feel her face burning from embarrassment and she was sure Kael would pick up on the truth that underneath her I-hate-my-boss facade that she actually likes her damn boss!
