Forgive And Forget - Max x Reader

im 22 so that must mean im blind now

David and I had been catching up with each other for the past week. We had been shaping the place up, getting it ready for campers.
"Hey where's Gwen?" I inquired. He explained that she got a job that she enjoyed so that's why she wasn't working as a counselor anymore. Damn I really wanted to see her.
A car came speeding down the road and halted right before it hit David.
He looked, happy?
"Oh the other counselors are here!"
"Other counce- wAiT i though you said we were understaffed? So much so we would need a miracle to get some."
"Well I might have made a few phone calls and-"
He was interrupted by the car door getting slammed. A woman around my age ran up to me and engulfed me into a bear hug.
"I thought I would never see you again!!"
"Do I... know you?" I said in between breaths.
"PshHhH (y/n) it's me, Nikki!" Escaping the wrath of the mighty bear hug, I stepped back a bit. Analyzing her face I could now see that it really was my old co-camper.
"You still have those famous pigtails and I couldn't even recognize you. I must be getting old or something..." David laughed, "Just wait till you hit your thirties, it gets worse."
Another figure walked out of the car, he looked mature, sophisticated and really fucking dorky.
"I'm gonna assume that you're Neil huh?"
"The one and only!" I gave him a hug, a normal hug (@ nikki) then let go.
"God I haven't seen you guys in years. I'm sorry we got out of touch, school was a bitch as always so it took up a lot of my old free time."
"It happens to the best of us." Neil sighed.
I looked back at the car, hoping just one more familiar face would show up. Almost as if she had read my mind Nikki spoke up. "He's not coming, just thought I should tell you. We asked to see if he wanted to come  join but, he said no."
"What are you talking about? I'm not waiting for anyone to emerge from the car unexpectedly. Its not like I would want to see his beautiful soft fluffy hair again or his crystal blue eyes or his-" I cut myself off noticing what I was saying didn't really make the situation any better on my end. My cheeks were flushed with a bright pink due to my embarrassment.
"Oh please (y/n) don't tell me you still have a thing for Max after all these years."
"Yeah you should be over that by now."
"Who said I still liked him? Not me that's for sure!" I argued back. "It doesn't really look that way to me."
"You guys are so difficult. I-I'm going on a snack run!"
I ran off to the store, just to be alone for a bit, and you know, get snacks.
It's a supermarket late at night no one should be there except the workers.
Or so I thought...
