Baekhyun and Chanyeol sat in a relatively small yet comfortable room as they waited for someone to call them for their appointment. Baekhyun was nervously twirling his thumbs, and even Chanyeol's hand stroking through his soft hair wasn't enough to distract himself from his thoughts.

Chanyeol leaned forward and kissed his temple before softly murmuring near his ear, "Calm down, baby. I'm sure someone will be by soon. We're early, so have patience."

Baekhyun nodded but still continued to bite the inside of his cheek. Chanyeol sighed and just continued to stroke his hair and caressed his cheek.

Another few minutes passed before a women in a perfectly pressed charcoal pants suit approached them. She smiled as she asked, "Hello, are you the Park's here your appointment?"

Chanyeol nodded as they both stood up and said, "Yes, ma'am."

She smiled more widely and exclaimed, "Perfect! Now, if you'll follow me . . ." She trailed off as she began to walk, her heels clicking against the tiled floor. Baekhyun and Chanyeol immediately followed after her, hands lacing together as they walked.

She lead them to a room and knocked before peeking the door open as she said, "Ms. Kim. Your three o'clock is here."

"Thank you. Please, let them in," replied a woman.

The other woman who had showed Baekhyun and Chanyeol the way bowed before respectfully stepping aside as she said, "I wish you luck."

Baekhyun smiled and softly replied, "Thank you!" as Chanyeol lightly touched his back and guided him forward.

They bowed after entering the room, and Ms. Kim smiled as she gestured to the two seats set before her desk. "Please, take a seat." she offered with another smile. "My name is Kim Taeyeon, and my goal for today is to get you on the path of adopting a child. What will happen today and in the upcoming weeks is that both of you will undergo an extensive background check to assure that every child we place into homes is going somewhere safe with two people that will love them dearly as if their very own." Ms. Kim smiled once again. "Also, you will both need to supply us with a urine sample to factor out involvement of drugs or any other harmful substances. Once that has been completed, I'll briefly glance over your file to estimate your chances of adoption. Any questions?"

Chanyeol and Baekhyun both shook their heads. Ms. Kim smiled. "Perfect. Now, if you would...." She reached into her desk and produced two small plastic cups that she hands to them. "After giving us the sample, there is a box in the wall that you will, in turn, place your urine sample. Okay?" They nodded again. "Good then. The bathroom is just down the hall to the left."

After they had both left a sample of their urine, they returned to Ms. Kim's office. She was reviewing their files when they entered, and she smiled as they sat down.

"Your files seem nearly perfect," Ms. Kim said.

Chanyeol pursed his lips before asking, "Nearly?"

Ms. Kim smiled. "Yes, nearly. I noticed that a little over half a year ago that you, Baekhyun, where assaulted in your apartment by an ex-boyfriend. It also says here that you lost four months of your memory from the incident before regaining them after only two. Quite impressive, really . . ." She trailed off before continuing. "I also see that your ex-boyfriend was arrested and is still currently in prison."

"Okay, I'm going to be completely honest with you both. This incident happened so long ago, but it may still be a hindrance for your chances of adopting. But inside from that, I'm seeing that's the only think that could possibly put a brake on the speed of finding you a baby. If it doesn't pose a problem, you will be contacted within the next two or so weeks. From there, we will ran through our system the best match for you and contact you once we have found a child matching your requests, as you aren't looking to adopt a newborn. Okay, any questions so far?"

"My brain is spinning so fast I can't even think of any . . ." Baekhyun chuckled.

"Me too," Chanyeol laughed.

Ms. Kim smiled. "I can give you a moment, if you'd like?"

Chanyeol nodded as Baekhyun smiled and replied, "Yes, please." He furrowed his brow and then asked, "Um, Ms. Kim, how long does the adoption process usually take?"

"Sometimes months or up to a year. Everything depends on the client and everyone before you," she responded.

"Do you have many clients?" Chanyeol asked.

Ms. Kim smiled thinly and replied, "Not as many as I would like. Our agency is smaller than others and a little under known. Most interested parents look into bigger agencies with more client history."

"But! If you were to go home tonight and look us up, you'd see that admittedly we haven't had many clients but every client we have had was always happy with our adoption process and we've never had an incident where the child had to be taken from a home."

"Oh wow, that's reassuring," Baekhyun smiled.

Ms. Kim laughed and muttered, "As I imagined it would be."

They stayed there for twenty or so more minutes, asking questions and learning information before thanking Ms. Kim for all her help and heading home. They collapsed happily onto their couch, their attention seeking kitten laying snuggly between them as both their minds filled with thoughts of their future.
