Different Districts

Chapter 4

Foxface (district 4)

Cold water ran over my hands as I washed them. The weather in district four was horrible. Rain seemed to come everyday. I sat down at the table and ate a bite of breakfast. Today was the reaping.

“I have found the perfect dress for you Finch!!!" My mom said. She hung her wet coat up. I did not want my mom to chose my dress.

“See!" My mom said.

Inside was a light blue dress,  A headband made out of gold, Tall socks and Beautiful Long blue gloves. The shoes were Red and had rubys on them.

“Everybody will know how rich we are!" My mom said happily.

I went to my room and looked at my dresser. On top lay a pink dress. The skirt was ruffled and the sleeves were long and comfy. My aunt gave me that dress. For two years I wanted to wear it. On top of my bookshelf was a long warm coat, warm boots and tall socks in many colors. That was from my father. Right now he was anyway in district two. Silo, my sister came in. She was wearing a beautiful vibrant yellow dress. A gold headband lay in her hair.

“Me and mom are leaving." She said. “Just her and me. The girl's dresses are on their chairs."

She pulled on yellow slippers. Then she left. Kaya walked passed me and I followed. On the chairs lay good dresses. Kaya's was a red one with no sleeves and a was super short. The shoes were very open.

“I am not wearing that." Kaya said.

Delca and Rella came into the room. Rella was wearing a nice warm outfit. A fluffy long skirt with a warm wool sweater. Tall green boots matched the outfit. Delca had on a purple dress. She picked a super warm purple sweater from her chair. She pulled on knee high purple socks and purple slippers. Then she pulled on red boots from under her chair. She put on purple gloves too. Rella went to her chair and picked up long warm gloves.

“This is better." Kaya said as she came in.

She wore a long Blue dress with a fluffy sweater and knee high boots. Greta, Talla, Fera and Kailey came in. Talla was wearing the latest style. A long magenta dress with a gold headband. Warm slippers were on her feet. Greta was wearing a black jacket and sweatpants. Pink and yellow glove were on her hands. Fera had on Ceo's old dress. A long black dress with ruffles, Beautiful black boots, A black hood and white earmuffs. Kailey had on the same outfit as Fera only white. She also added a white sweater and hoodie. Ceo came in wearing a black sweater and a long black dress. She boots were yellow and her gloves were pink. She stared at the yellow dress on her chair. She picked up the blue earmuffs and put them on.

I ran to my room. I needed to change! Everybody else was leaving! I pulled on my aunt's dress and my father's things. I rushed to the square. I saw my mom's face. She was not happy.

“Our tributes are Alex Ross and Finch Fox."

I started at the ground. I'm the tribute? I barely thought of my hunger games. If I would die. Peacekeepers shoved me onto the stage. I started at the boy. He was well fit and ready. When I was in the building no one came except Alex Cornso, my best friend. She sat down.

“will you win?" She asked.

“I have never really gave the games deep thought. I did not really care. if I did not volunteer it seemed like I would be fine." I said.

“So, can you do anything?"

“ I'm smart and I throw knives."

“ What else?"

“I do not know."

On the train I thought about Alex. She was 16 like me. Her family was poor. I gave them money when I was younger but, now I can not give them so much. Sadly that get the tessare. I want to win for Alex. Alex, Ceo and Greta. Ceo was so sad when her sister Alice was killed in the hunger games. My dad adopted Ceo and Alice. Last year It was Alice who died. Now Ceo is 18. She, unlike Alice is safe from the hunger games. Greta is my sister. We were born from a secret family my father had. The one I call my mom is really my step mom. Me and Greta are twins. I lay down on the bed and sleep.
