Katniss

"This is your room." Else says pointing to A large space with the finest bed I've ever seen. I run in and plop down on the bed.

"Ahhhhhhhhhh... So wonderful..." I say relaxing on the bed.

I know I'm supposed to be a career, and get all these capitol benefits but, in district 4, beds are NOT one of them. I remember my bed at home with the springs that are broken. Plus, the sheets are torn and dirty.

"Katniss?" Else says.

"I'm listening."

"You need to come meet your mentors!" She says.

"Thresh?" I ask.

"Yes, Him too."

"Okay." I say and jump off the bed. I wince as the bed jumps up at me. I walk away burning feel a pulling sensation on my dress. I turn around just to see my dress rip away from the bed. I look at my dress and gasp. A long tear from the bottom to my armpit broke out. I turn to the closet in my room and pick out a new dress. Then I shed the green dress.

"Changing? Now?" I Peter around the Closet door and see Thresh.

"My dress ripped." I say.

"Oh." He said.

"Did you see me?" I ask because I realize I forgot to put on under clothes.

"No." Thresh said. "I just saw you throw that dress out of the closet.

"Good. Now can u leave?" I ask.

"Sure." He replies.

I sigh as he closes the door behind him. Then I look down at me, inspecting myself. Then, I realize I better hurry up. I grabbed the blue dress and pulled it on. I ran out to the eating car.

"Finally!" Else says.

"Yeah." I say. I look down at the deep blue dress. Then I sigh and plop down in the chair. I feel a chill as I realize that the dress is very light and thin.

"Well, this is you mentor, Hanna." Else says.

I nod towards Hanna. Then I dig into the foods. After I'm finished I go to my room and close the door. I walk towards the bed only to have half my dress torn away because I closed it in the door. I cursed. I open the door a bit and pulled the ruined part of the dress in. I shed the rest of the blue dress. Then, I grabbed a pair of underclothes and put them on and slipped into the bed. I was startled when at knock came at the door.

"Katniss?" Thresh called.

"Don't come in." I say and I rush to put on a dress.

"Katniss?" Thresh comes in and closes the door. He looks up and I jump into the bed.

"Sorry." He says as he sees me only in my under clothes. Then he leaves. Then, I grab a green dress that matches my boots and puts it on. I reach down onto my old green dress and pull out Kimi's necklace. Then I put it on and open the window. I shiver as the cold air hits me. I look into the closet and pull out a fur-lined coat. I tug in on over the thin material of the green dress and wrap it around me. I jump out the window onto the metal platform. Unlike the few trains I've taken in district 4, the platform doesn't jump up and down. I sit on the window with my butt inside. Then I touch the necklace.

"Oh, Kimi. I miss ya already." I say.

Then I jump off the window as we approach tracks that are just on a little mound above the water. I pull Kimi's necklace into my hand. I reach under the metal railing and stick my hand into the clean water. Then the water disappears and i'm touching dirty soil. Then a tree whacks my hand. I yelp as my hand tears the necklace away from me. The gold beads scatter and fly off the train. I pull my hand close to my face and look at the tiny disk in my hand.

"I'm sorry Kimi, I didn't mean to break your necklace." I say.

I tighten my hand and look up to see the capitol. The blazing light blinds me and my hand hits the rail. The disk clatters to the ground. I squat down and pick it up just as it's about to fall though the thin metal bars.

"KATNISS EVERDEEN! Get back on this train!"

I look up to see Else standing with a very cross look on her face. I bow my head.

"Sorry." I say quietly.

"As you probably saw we are at the capitol." She says with a note of anger in her voice. "Now come along. We don't want to be late do we Katniss?" Then she tugs me by the arm.

"Will you stop?" I ask.

"Hurry up then. We're late." She says.

I snicker. Who would be late? If anything we're early.

"It isn't polite to laugh Ms. Everdeen." Else says.

"Really?"

"I'm sure your parents would have taut you better manners." She says in a grossed-out way.

"Well, sorry Mrs. President." I say with a ton of sarcasm.

"You don't talk to older people that way ms. Everdeen." Else says.

"Oh, so your old. What like 76?" I ask.

Else makes a move to talk. Then, she closes your mouth.

"Oh, you are? Must be a good guesser." I say.

"Be quiet young lady." Else says her voice fighting to stay calm and polite.

"Maybe your mum died recently." I say.

"SHUT IT!" Else yells at me.

"Nah." I say.

"None of this is your business." She says in a rushed way. Then she stalks away.

"Oops! Scared the killer away." I say.

"She doesn't kill tributes" Thresh says. "That's our job."

I laugh. "She prepares them to die. I don't gotta word for that."

Thresh raises an eyebrow. "How 'bout evil preparer."

"That sounds good." I say.

"Are you talky people gonna talk all day?" Hanna asks.

"We're here." Trip, Thresh's mentor says.

"Got ya." I say and step off the train.
