I layed her dow. gently on the sand. I kissed her soft skin, her warm stomach, her perfect hips, her beautiful thighs. She lay with her eyes shut, her head tilted and her lips slightly parted. She looked so perfect. I ran my finger down her body, she tensed slightly when I reached her underwear.

"Do you want me to?"

"I don't know" she sighed.

"Its okay" she sat up and covered her face.

"I'm sorry" I took her trembling hands away from her face and looked into her eyes.

"You don't need to apologise" I took her hand and stroked her wrist. I looked down and sighed. Her thighs were covered in stripes of red.

"Why do you do it, princess?" I stroked her leg softly. "You are worth more than this" A tear rolled down her cheek, I brushed it away with my thumb. "Hey, look. Come, let's go back to mine. You're freezing" I took her hand and pulled her close. I couldn't hold back my tears, they spilled down my cheeks as I held her in my arms. The thought of her sitting there alone, a blade parting her perfect skin. All of those nights I wasn't with her. The thought of my baby hurting herself.

I wiped my eyes and lead her back. The harsh light of the kitchen hurt my eyes. I followed her as she raced up the steps and into my room. By the time I had reached the door she was flopped on the bed, arms outstretched.

"Come on, let's get you changed"

She stood up and smiled cheekily. "Go on then" she walked and stopped in front of my wardrobe.

"I'm afraid I don't have any underwear for you" she shrugged her shoulders. I walked up behind her and unclasped the black lace. It fell to the floor effortlessly. My eyes slid up her body, I moved myself to her front and slipped her lace panties off. I grabbed a pair of my boxers and put them on her, slowly sliding them up her legs.

"Hmm... Batman or Superman?" I asked while flicking through my shirts.

"Batman!" she cheered like a child, clapping her hands together.

I pulled out the shirt. "Arms up" I ordered. She did as she was told and I slipped the shirt on her. I dropped to my knees and kissed each tiny cut on her thigh, the red and white marks.

"I love you, Courtney, please don't do this again"

She dropped the baby voice and whispered "okay". She crawled into my bed and patted the space beside her. "You, bed, too" she cooed, back in her baby voice. I climbed in beside her, snuggling up close even though there was plenty of space in this bed.

"Don't let go" she whispered.

"I won't, I promise" I placed my hand on her thigh, covering her scars, willing them to vanish. I kept still and listened to her breathing, shallow and soft.

"Courtney?"

"Yeah?" she asked, tiredly.

"I..." My voice trailed away. What do I say? I looked down at my angel, now fast asleep. Her eyes shut peacefully, her lips slightly parted with her natural smile.

"Courtney, I remember the day we met. You shared your chocolate with me and I beat up that boy who was picking on you. Since that day, we'd been close. Best friends. Never apart. You'd dress me up and I'd make you laugh. We'd never been anything more. I was there through the heartbreaks, your shoulder to cry on, literally. I stayed strong through them all, envying the boys allowed to steal your heart. I was your date to the dance and you went to all of my matches. We had sleep overs and movie nights. I let you hold my hand because I wanted to hold yours. I kissed your bruises and bumps when you broke your wrist and I sat at the hospital with you. I was so scared, I never wanted to see you like that ever again. The white scars you tried to hide and I'd pretend not to notice. Now I'm here... you don't need to hide"

Love you all, stay amazing
