She ran into my arms as soon as I saw her.

"I thought you weren't coming" I breathed into her hair.

"Fashionably late" she grinned.

We went straight to the drinks table, by her command, and downed shot after shot of apple and cherry sours.

She kissed me hard and I forgot we were on a deck full of people. I lifted her onto a table sending food flying, and kissed her. Her hand went in a cream pie and she smeared it on my neck before licking it off slowly.

"Come on guys! Its a party" Matt groaned, rescuing a cupcake before Courtney smashed it. I pulled her down from the table and she stuck her tongue out before mumbling "spoil sport". I laughed and hugged her close to me.

We danced for ages under the twinkling lanterns. She pulled me close as the song tempo slowed.

"Let's stay like this" she whispered, her little head nestled on my chest.

"Let's" I whispered. The track changed but we still danced, slowly turning, like we did at high school prom dance.

"Courtney...?"

"Yeah?" I took her had and led her to a quiet corner.

"You know I love you?" I smiled as I sat down.

Yes, and I love you too" she replied, sitting beside me and curling up under my arm.

"Well, things have been... difficult lately"

"Things have become more easy too"

"Yes, things have become easier but... now that everything has happened... between us" I cleared my throat.

"Yes?"

"Well I was wandering if..." I gazed at the floor.

"If?" I took a deep breath.

"From the day I met you all those years ago, I knew you were special. We were pirates, doctors, actors and adventurers. All of that changed daily but one thing that never changed was that we were friends. We played together, got sick together, got in trouble together, hell, we even bathed together. You were my first friend, date and valentine. Remember when your cousin 'married' us under the tree in my back yard?" she giggled softly, making me smile. "Those were the best days of my life, growing up with you was a privilege. I loved every second even when we're fighting. I was always there to comfort you and you were always there for me too. And I want it to stay like that. Well, your only eighteen so I'm not going to ask you to marry me so at least for now... will you be my girlfriend?" I heard a sniffle. I looked down to see a tear drop down her cheek.

"Yes"

"Really?"

"Yes" she kissed me softly then wiped her face, making it tear free. "Now let's go dance" she grinned.

She held onto me, drinking and dancing. She smiled from ear to ear, glowing in beauty, her happiness radiating.

The floor Egan to fill up, people were passing around drinks, kissing and dancing. Some guy sauntered over, I didn't think at first as he shoved past drunk dancers. He wore a mask that covered the top half of his face and he smiled warmly as he approached. He held two drinks, which he handed to me and Court.

"Compliments to the hosts" he smiled.

"Thanks?" Courtney downed hers quick and clung onto my arm.

"Nice mask" she giggled.

"Haha thanks, lost a bet and got 'mug' written across my forehead in permanent ink" he laughed in a deep voice.

"Haha sounds fun so-"

"Sorry mate, I owe Nash a drink, know where he is?" he interrupted.

"Oh yeah, by the bar"

"Cool. So one more thing, she your girl?"

"Uh..?"

"Yeah" Courtney beamed proudly.

"Right" with that he disappeared. I downed the glass and went back to dancing. Suddenly the music began to blare and faces looked distorted, I looked around. She was gone.

Love you all, stay amazing
