We walked around downtown for what felt like hours until we spotted a club. It was on the corner of a very busy street and seemed to be packed. We made our way across the street and waited in line to be let in. Once we got to the front a large man wearing all black asked for our ID's.
He was looking us up and down which made me so uncomfortable. I guess Gabby could tell because she said, "Can you not look at my friend like that." He quickly checked our ID's and we were on our way.
The club was massive, strobe lights were flashing different neon colors while the dance floor was crowded with drinking adults.
"Alright girls, DRINKS!" Briana said while grabbing Gabby by the arm and dragging her to the bar. I followed along but was quickly stopped when someone bumped into me, causing me to fall right on the floor.
"Oh-oh shit. I'm so sorry here, let me help." The man grabbed my arms and helped me to my feet. He looked like he was in his twenties and he was very attractive. He was wearing a white t-shirt with a jean jacket paired with black jeans. Even though he did just knock me to the floor I found myself apologizing to him.
"No it's fine, I should've been watching where I was going." I said, he shook his head as a small nervous smile spread across his face.
"Sydney! Are you okay?" Gabby asked loudly, gathering the attention of some people at the bar. So many eyes were now on me and I panicked. Briana asked if I was okay and I quickly assured her I was fine and motioned for her to walk away. Briana got the hint and guided us to the bar. The man looked back at me once more before he walked away.
"Are you sure you're okay? 'cause I'll go right over there and make sure he apologizes again" Gabby said very seriously. I shook my head and made it clear I was okay.
"I would just go back over there to get his number, he was cute!" Briana said taking a sip of her drink. I turned around to see the man looking over at us but he quickly looked away once he saw me looking at him. I haven't flirted with anyone in a while, plus he looked kinda intimidating. I look over once more and again he is staring at me but this time he didn't look away. I give him a small smile and turn back to my friends. We continued to drink and talk for a while then decided to go dance. As I turned around I bumped into someone again.
"We can't keep meeting like this." The man said looking down at me.
"This time it was your fault." I said noticing that my hands were on his chest. I moved them away smiling awkwardly.
"Let me buy you a drink." he chuckled still looking down at me.
"I don't usually let guys buy me drinks without knowing their name." I said looking over at the girls who were staring us down. I motioned for them to go ahead and go to the dance floor which they did. Briana gave me a thumbs up and I shook my head.
"Alex." The man said handing me a drink.
"Huh?"
"My name. It's Alex."

It was around 2 am when I finally checked the time. Alex and I had talked pretty much all night about almost everything. He seemed like a very nice guy and to my surprise he had been single for a while as well.
"So you're from Houston?" Alex asked leaning back in his chair. By this time we were both more relaxed.
"No I live in Corpus Christi but I'm hoping this trip will make me want to move here." I said smiling. He looked at me surprised and was about to start talking when we got interrupted by a worried Briana.
"Sydney, we need to go she's getting out of control." Briana said looking over at Gabby who was grinding on a man that looked to be in his late thirties. I looked at Alex and sighed.
"I'm sorry, I gotta go." I said getting up from my seat.
"Wait, uh could I-" Alex said scratching the back of his neck. I turned around to Briana who was desperately trying to pick Gabby up from off the floor.
"I'm sorry, I have to go help her." I said I felt so bad leaving him there and I was seriously going to kill Gabby once she was sober. I rushed over to the girls and helped Briana pick her up.
"I miss Matthew so much." Gabby said through sobs. She was an absolute mess. Briana and I both lifted her and starting walking towards the exit. Briana had already called for an Uber so we quickly put her into the car. As I was getting in I heard someone from the door.
"Hey wait." I turned to see Alex running down the street. I looked at him confused.
"Your name. What's your name?" He said out of breath. I smiled, he was so cute. The car from behind us honked and we both gave the man an ugly look.
"Sydney. My names Sydney." I said getting into the car.
