Alex's POV

Early game days are always the hardest especially when you partied the night before. I really enjoyed last night though, getting to know Sydney a little more felt great. I was really starting to like her and I wanted to hang out with her more. I grabbed my phone off the night stand to see that I had to be at the stadium in about 2 hours. I decided to text Sydney to see how her and the girls were.

alex

hey, you and the girls made it back okay?

sydney

yes, we had a great night. thanks for inviting us :)

Sydney's POV

"So looks like I'm going on a date tonight." I say to the girls plopping down on the bed. We had all woken up pretty late and were eating breakfast we postmated.

"Oh look at you. You don't even look at a guy for years and now your dating." Gabby says eating the last of her whataburger bob. I rolled my eyes and turned to Bri. She has kinda been acting weird since we got into the car last night and I don't know what to do.

"Well I could really use a new outfit for tonight, y'all want to go help me find one?" I asked with hopefull eyes. Bri didn't look up from her phone but nodded and Gabby did the same. I threw my trash and started rummaging through my bag.

"So you and Jake got along well last night huh?" I say smirking towards Gabby. She smiled and said, "Yes. He's really handsome, I can't!" I laughed and head to the bathroom to start getting ready for the day.

I stood outside the our hotel waiting for Alex to pick me up. I was a little nervous because this would be the first time we were going to be absolutely by ourselves. I get a text from Gabi when Alex pulls up next to me. I smile when I see him jump out of the drivers seat and runs to the other side.

"You look great." He says embracing me with a hug. I smile and thanked him. He helped me into the car and not gonna lie I got a wave of butterflies once he closed the door.

On the drive over to the restaurant we made small talk and listened to what was on the radio. Truth Hurts by Lizzo came on and I couldn't help but sing quietly. I guess Alex noticed because he reached over and turned up the radio and started singing.

I turned surprised, "You know this song?" I asked shocked. He chuckled, "Of course it's all anyone is playing. There's a lot you still haven't learned about me yet Syd."

"Yeah, yet."

After driving about 30 minutes out of Houston, Alex turned into a bbq restaurant.
