Chapter 2 - Never Trust

After hearing what Octavian said I couldn't stop thinking about her. Her electric blue eyes keep coming up in my mind. I wouldn't believe it when she told me I was going to be hurt by her. She seemed so kind and ennocent ,but the way she spoke, the venom in her words it was painful to hear. Especially coming from a mate, a other half, a soul mate. I thought about where she said I am. The Shallow Moon pack, it rang a bell ,but the memory of the name was faint. I've heard of this pack, but never in detail when people start to talk about it they immediately stopped. Why is it so familiar?

My thoughts were interrupted when I heard footsteps outside my cell. The person walked fast almost running then stopped in front of my door. They were panting loudly then I heard a soft sounds, like if someone was crying. I got up trying to ignore the silver burning my wrists and walk as far as the chains would let me. I look through the the opening in the door trying to see the person.

"Is someone there?" I called out softly not to attract the guards and not to scare away the person. I heard a soft gasp then there was soft shuffling sounds coming from the other side.

"Hello?" the person said back in a quiet voice,I recognized it as a female voice. She came closer to the door where I could see only her eyes through the opening. The were quite different seeing as they were a vibrant purple.

"What's your name?" I questioned her which brought worry in her eyes.

"Don't worry I won't hurt you. I'm held prisoner here and the door is locked so I can't touch you. Just tell me your name," I reassured her trying to get an answer. Finally she spoke answering my question.

"Marina, Marina Becken. Who are you? Why are you here?" She said and asked,talking fast.

"Okay, Marina, my name is Matthew Hunter. I don't know why I'm here. My pack was killed by rogues and I was the last survivor. The Red Wolf pack and--" 

"The Red Wolf pack? Beta Matthew? Is it really you? You're alive,I knew it,I knew you were," she cut me off surprising me by what she said.

"Wait you're from my pack. Marina, are you being held prisoner here for trespassing?" she looked down when I asked her the question.

"Yes, beta, I am. I ran away from the fight. I feel like a fool, I was just so scared. Now everyone is dead because I was a coward," she said tears in her eyes. She looked so helpless and so broken.

"Marina, it wasn't your fault. I too was scared seeing my pack lie dead before my eyes ,so I ran. You were afraid and that is understandably. But right now if anyone is to remember our pack you'll have to help me get out of here, so dry your tears and tell me how you got out of your cell," I told her trying to get her to help me out of this place before Alexandra came back.

Drying her tears she said with a shaky voice,"Yes,beta. I got out with the key which I took from the guard's belt hook. That's how I got out."

"Describe the guy you took the key from," I told her hoping it's the guy that came to my cell.

"Uhh... He's quite tall, he very muscular and he has a lot of scarring on his face. That's all I can remember," she said and I was thankful that it was the same guy.

"Great, one last thing. Do you still have the keys?" I said crossing my fingers hoping she had. There was silence the she answered.

"Shit! I left it at my cell," she cursed after realizing she didn't have it.

"Go and get it at your cell. Mind link me when you get there and if there is trouble," I told her and she nodded her head and ran softly down the hall.

After what felt like a hour she mind linked me saying,

"I've got the keys,but there's a guy coming my. What should I do? He'll notice me missing. Help me, What do I do, beta Matthew?"

I mind link back telling her what she should do,

"Marina, listen carefully, go to your cell and close the door behind you making it seem like you're still there. When you here him gone,quietly come to me and we'll get out of hear,okay?"

"Okay."

She says back and assuming she did what I told her, I go sit against the wall which they chained me to. After waiting for her mind link she finally comes back to me saying,

"I'm on my way. I'm on the last flight of stairs, just hang on, beta."

I hear footsteps outside my door and I get up walking as far as the chains let me. I hear keys turn in the lock and the door swings open slowly. I was met with Marina, she looked a mess. Her clothes torn, feet bare, scars and bruises running over her face and body. She came closer too me and unlocked my chains, the burning finally stopped and it felt great. I pulled Marina in for a hug ,holding her tightly.

"Marina,you are an angel sent from heaven. Thank you," I said almost crying because I thought I would never get out. She pulled away.

"Sorry, beta Matthew," I gave her a confused look as she stepped back.

I heard clapping then Alexandra appeared from behind her. A smile etched on her lips.

"Well done, Marina, you are such a great actor. Poor Matthew really thought he's getting away from me. He should have seen the plan in your head, but he didn't focus," she said after she stopped clapping.

I looked to Marina saying," You tricked me? I thought you were in my pack. You lied to me, you were with her the whole time?"

Before she could answer Alexandra spoke again," She was in your pack, I just made a deal with her. She lies to you and make you think she'll help you for her freedom. We were testing you."

"Beta,I am really sor--" Marina started ,but she was interrupted.

"You keep quiet! Omega. The real people are talking," Alexandra said which made Marina keep quiet.

Then Alexandra went on," I told you, if you talk to him again you lose your freedom, but you couldn't keep your trap shut,could you? Liam, take this omega to the next cell and lock her up."

The guy with the scars,Liam, came in and took Marina to her cell,but she resisted.

"No! No! Please! I'll keep quiet! Just don't lock me up again! Beta, please don't let them lock me up! I'm sorry!" I heard her call as she was taken too the cell.

The way she yelled hurt me,but the way she lied hurt me even more. I growl loudly getting Alexandra's attention.

"As for you, Matthew. I have two words I hope you remember and remember well. Never Trust," she came closer to me and whispered in my ear.

"You will never leave here, this place is your home as it is Marina's. You just have to accept it," she pulled away and commanded me with her alpha tone.

"Now kneel before your new alpha," it was painful trying to resist to which I finally gave in and fell on my knees, bowed my head. She smiled and said,

"Good boy, now the real fun will begin."

I just think he fits the character perfectly by looks, maby not personality wise,but... Who cares?
