"Never to suffer would never to have been blessed."
*Alexandra*
It was finally the day and I was sitting in front of the mirror finishing up. I decided to do my hair in a waterfall braid and my make up was light, I didn't want to go overboard, but I still had to give off a good impression.
I looked at myself in the mirror and took a deep breath trying to calm my nerves. Just then Matthew entered the room wearing his suite.
"Could you help me?"
He motioned to his bow tie that hung around his neck, not tied yet. I smiled and walked over to him and started tying it.
"Shouldn't you be doing this yourself?" I ask him and he chuckled.
"I could, but I think you'll make it look much better," he answered just as I pulled the two sides of the bow to tighten it.
He bent down and placed a kiss on my cheek before saying softly,"You look beautiful, Alexandra."
I blushed at the compliment, "Thank you."
After a while we decided it was time to go and we made our way to the front door. We got outside where our car was parked and our driver had opened the door for us.
Matthew and I got in the back seat and a few minutes later we drove out of the iron gates.
I was fiddling with the ring on my finger, twisting it nervously as we got closer to our destination. I realised I haven't been to a formal event in a while, not since my parents pasted away.
Suddenly I felt Matthew's hand touch mine, I knew he did it in an effort to calm me down and it did just that.
He leaned closer to me and whispered, "Everything will be okay as long as we're together. Remember that." I nodded and he gave me a small smile.
We stopped in front of the hall and the driver opened the door for us. Matthew got out first and held out his hand for me to take.
I hooked my arm around Matthew's and we both walked up the stairs towards the ebony door that swung open as we came closer. The two opening it bowed their heads as we passed them into the huge ballroom.
It was a huge room decorated with gold designs. A chandelier hung from the ceiling that illuminated the room casting a golden light over everything. At the back there was a two-way, white marble staircase that led up to a belchony where the marking would take place.
I looked around and recognised a few alphas from other packs. We made our way across the room when I heard someone call my name.
I turned around and was met with my old friend, Erika. I smiled and walked over to her and gave her a hug.
"I'm so glad you're here."
"How could I miss my friend's marking ceremony? By the way, where's your mate?" She asked and I looked over my shoulder where Matthew was standing.
"Come on, I'll introduce you to him," I told her. I grabbed her arm and pulled her towards Matthew.
"Erika, this is Matthew Hunter. Matthew, this is Erika Cross, alpha of the Crimson Moon Pack," I introduced them.
Matthew bowed his head before saying, "It's a pleasure, Alpha Erika."
"Oh please, don't be so formal. You can call me Erika and it's nice meeting you too, Matthew," she told him.
