Shaun giggled as he took another shot. Suddenly, he froze and slipped from his stool. "Shaun?" [Y/n] rushed forward and helped him stand upright. He giggled again. "Shaun?"
"You smell like cupcakes," he whispered in her ear. "And pancakes."
"Thanks, Shaun. Are you okay?"
"I'm friggin' great."
"Shaun, it's time to go home."
"No, I'm... fine." He hiccuped. He covered his mouth. He ran over to the bathroom and didn't come back out for 15 minutes. "I am fine," he affirmed. "You look pretty."
"Thank you, Shaun," she said, actually flattered. "Let's go home."
"Are you, hic, sure?"
"Yes."
"I don't want to hold you back."
"Shaun, I want to go home. Come on; we can have a nice time there."
"Okay," he said simply. "Hand?" She held her hand out, and he took it with a tiny smile.
She led him out to the car, and he fell asleep as soon as the warm air blew on him. [Y/n] couldn't remember how to get to Shaun's apartment, especially in the dark. She decided to go to her own apartment instead. She managed to wake Shaun up and walk him inside to her bedroom. He sat down on the bed.
"Lay down, my dear," she coaxed. He laid down and just stared up at her.
"I'm your dear," he mumbled.
"Yes, you are." She pulled her comforter over him and rubbed her thumb against his jaw.
"Mine," he muttered before drifting off. Just to be safe, she checked his pulse and made sure he was breathing properly before going out to her sitting room and lying down on the couch.
Two hours later, she woke up with a start. Something was wrong. Shaun. She got up and ran to the bedroom. Shaun was pacing and breathing heavily. "Shaun, Shaun!" Her eyes were tearing up because it was her fault. She should've forced him to stay awake so she could take him home.
He turned to her and froze. "You are crying."
"Shaun, are you okay?"
"Yes. Are you okay? You are the one crying."
"I'm okay if you are, Shaun. Lie down."
"I can't sleep, not here."
"Tell me why."
"I had a nightmare. I can't sleep here. It is too unfamiliar."
"I'll drive you home as soon as it's light out, okay? For now, rest."
"Stay then."
"Okay. Lie down." He moved the blankets back and laid down obediently. He looked up at her expectantly. She pulled the blankets over him the same as before, even rubbing his jaw with her thumb.
"I don't remember-"
"Shh. Morning," she whispered, her finger pressed lightly against his lips. He froze underneath, eyes drawn to her finger like a magnet. "Sleep now, my dear."
"I'm sorry," he apologized quietly.
"For what exactly? This isn't a problem."
"I'm a problem," he stated blankly.
"You are the exact opposite of a problem. Sleep."
"But-"
"Sleep." She walked to the other side of the bed and laid down. They both laid stiffly on their backs for a few seconds.
