_____

Tears streamed down his face like there was no tomorrow at the sight of his soon to be wed lover. The only plausible explanation for him to wipe his eyes was that he would drench his suit.. and goodness knows you would tease him about it later. Specter hadn't cried for any known reason since the two of you had met, and you were the cause of such a drastic change. All eyes were on you, eyes revealing emotions that were to be admirable and ecstasy, while others.. filled with envy. Then again, who wouldn't be if they didn't naturally look like Specter's god-like beloved?

A figurine dolled up and enhanced by a mass of radiant white silk focused on only one in an endless sea of people that surrounded them. While they had the attention of many, they truly only wanted that of one. The thought of finally being side by side Specter again had almost caused them to rush down the aisle, but somehow they stabilized their recklessly beating heart in order to savor the moment. One that they would only get one shot at. One that you couldn't simply re-do.

Once at the altar and resisting the urge to make any kind of contact towards your husband-soon-to-be, vows were said loving glances were exchanged more often than not.

And finally, after almost tuning out the rest, you got to face Specter. It didn't even take the man behind you two to finish the sentence in its ensemble, "You may now kiss the-"

The two of you were already in each other's arms, his hands secured at your hips and your hands on either cheek to pull him closer, a loud uproar of those who you'd invited to witness the moment exploding with claps and cheers and excited laughter, followed by a few melancholy tears from your own family and his, mostly from T-Bone in the front row.

At that moment, you two had finalized your wishes to be together for an eternity, throughout your younger years and leading into your older ones, through living and dead. At no point in your life would you have imagined being married to such a lively person, in the face of him being dead. The newlyweds were showered with praise and love by the rest of those present during the wedding. A few people started to ask about the next time they would be meeting the two of you at a time like this. Yeah, they were implying a baby shower.

While your new husband was overly excited to start a family (because boy did he have a big heart) you had convinced him to wait a bit... But then you were met by someone unexpected. Someone you dread would have been here but... Specter must have invited out of the sheer kindness of his heart. A grand, pointy-nosed flower and his wife who was almost the sheer reflection of him. Save for being a bit more friendly.

Whilst your husband chatted and jokes with the other invites, the air still lighthearted as utterly possible, you came face to face with the man who had caused him so much trouble. Trouble in, and after his previous life. Seeing Cagney may or may not wreck the totally optimistic aura that their little after wedding party gave off...

"Well, how do you do Mister Carnation?" Your voice rang cheerily, a façade that only you and your husband would be able to see through. Negative thought after negative rampaged within your head, out of fear that your beloved would see you with the man he'd loathed after all these years.

The flower, with a bit of a sneer, replied, "Just fine. It's not every day a wedding happens in Inkwell Isle.. Never got the gist that it would be for that guy over there." Your eyes followed his own over to your newfound spouse, who was playing around with the eyeballs embedded in his hands... He was juggling them. Typical Specter.

It wasn't your husband's goofy behavior that was irking you, no no, it was the Carnation who'd arrived at your very own wedding, and seemed as if he was looking down on the two of you, and the gathering overall. Tension erupted into the air like it were a silent volcano. The urge to tell him off for all he had done to your sweet Specter bubbled within, and you took in a breath to regain yourself.

"Hello Cagney!"

Two ghostly hands slithered around your waist, delicately holding you, and pulling you near them softly like they were trying to protect you from any evil. It was no surprise that this was Specter, your lover. Thank goodness for him intervening. Had he not, this wedding may not have ended as pretty as it started.

The flower gave a small, seemingly irritated hum in response to the glowing boy. He didn't seem all too enthusiastic about you two, so why the hell was he even here-

"Congratulations."

"Thanks!"

The glee that was laced in his few words left you astounded as Cagney gave his younger acquaintance a small smirk, soon taking his leave. Why? Why was your husband so levelheaded upon seeing someone who left him shattered and broken for so long..? If it were you in his shoes, there would be a definitive grudge, what he did was absurd and-

Chu!

A soft kiss to your cheek caused your train wreck of thoughts to come to a halt. Quickly, blood rushed to your cheeks specifically, giving off a bright, pink tinted glow. This was a key reason to why your heart pounded solely around him... He knew how to put out a raging fire if he needed to.

Those same delicate, cool hands are the ones that were guiding you to the empty dance floor, the one reserved especially for the two of you. While he melted away any of your remaining anger by swaying back and forth with you, the same dorky grin you witnessed a few years back when first getting to know him, the other couples around you slowly began to either coo or join in with lovers of their own.

A small grin was cracked when Specter rested his forehead against your own, his sockets closing once you finally rested your hands on his shoulders. The atmosphere had resolved itself from tense and antsy, and now you were just happy to be in his arms again. Only his. Nobody else's...

"I'm mature enough to move past things like that you know." His voice came out soft, but with more bass than usual.. It was soothing in a sense. He kept going. "If I didn't learn to grow up, we wouldn't even be here right now babe." You pressed a quick peck to his lips in response, his words piercing your heart like an arrow directly from Cupid.

The ghastly male's wicked grin never faltered. He continued to sway with you, pausing once in a while to spin you like they did in the cheesy movies he watched when he was younger.

"Most importantly, without you, I don't think I'd have been able to grow up at all..."

"Specter..."

Silent tears slid down his cheeks as he begun to reminisce his life with you before now. He was happy. He was so happy. All of it was your doing too.. Without you where would he be now, still in his lonesome carting, wallowing in his own sadness, surrounded by his own distressful air. Still crying, still thinking of what he could have done, still wishing he was more than dead...

But then there came you. You, who had taught him that life was more than just love itself. You, who had him experience what it was like when you didn't have to suffer in silence. You, who had helped him in finding a new meaning for what was known as living. You... who had dragged him from the depths of his very own deep, dark, ocean of anguish, and shown him that even then you could find a light somewhere.

The only regret he had was not meeting you while he was still alive.

Maybe then things would be different.

The both of you watched each other in blissful silence, the hot, salty tears that had dawned on him now staining your face too. You didn't need words to express how much you loved each other from prior adventures together. The look in your eyes said it all. If you tried to speak now anyways, it would be a bit difficult.. Seeing as you would have choked up from crying.

And the fact that your husband was kissing you again, the scene just like one in a movie, everyone's eyes on you while the moment was so dear...

When he actually released you from your warm embrace, he finally spoke into existence the one thing that death could never encounter,

"I love you."

And if nobody else was able to tell,

"I love you too."

There was no better place than beside him. Alongside each other, you would develop. And so would your kids and the rest of your family! One could say that this was the sole lesson that Cagney had taught him, was how to grow.

But hey, he was grateful. Because without him, Specter wouldn't have you.
