"Rainy days are depressing." Spoke the smaller boy. Mugman was lying against the windowsill next to you, an unsatisfied look on his face as he listened to the pitter patter of the raindrops outside.

"I've always thought about rain differently." You murmured. The rain was pretty in your eyes. It was a way of expression. Not only for you but.. for the people the rain came from.

"I don't get it. How can you see rain as anything other than sad? The clouds are grey, they rain reminds me of crying.. I don't like it." He sighed, looking towards you.

You took hold of his gloved hands, eyes not meeting his, but continuing to look out the window.

"Think about it this way Mugs. Up in the sky there are.. people. People who were once here, living happily, just like me and you!" You smiled.

His heart stopped. He wasn't focusing on the thought of rain much longer, but now the sunshine that radiated off of you when you were passionate about something.

"But.. we always get the chance to cry. We're here, in the moment. We have another day to make things.. change, you know? They never got the chance to cry."

"They need a chance to mourn too.."

Suddenly it clicked. He could understand where you're coming from now. "That's some way to think about it." He replied.

You gave him a nod, swallowing harshly. "The rain isn't only sadness either.. It can be happiness too."

"And how is that?"

"Well you don't only cry when you're sad do you? When something amazing, profound happens.. I think it's only natural to shed a tear or two. Just like how it rains on a sunny day sometimes.."

"Gee.." Was all Mugman could mutter. He'd never thought about it that way. He was able to better understand now.

The lump in your throat grew, and your face turned red. A melancholy smile tugged at your lips.

With a small glance, the boy almost panicked. He called your name gently, standing from his seat at the window. "What's the matter? Is the rain gettin' to ya?" His thumb rubbed at the inside of your palm.

"I guess so. Even after all I said." A few tears began to fall. Why were you crying? This you couldn't comprehend yourself.

"Tell you what," Mugman laced your fingers together, a bright blue dusting his cheeks. "When you're with me, the rain is no longer allowed to be.. saddening."

A thumb wiped your tears away. You glanced up at him with slightly red eyes.

"Whoever said I was crying out of sadness?" The smile returned along with a little laugh at how worried he was.

"Oh well I-I guess I did kind of assu- mmh!"

Hopefully that would get him to quiet down. Your lips meshed with his own, and somehow a warm, sensational rhythm was found. His fingers twitched with anticipation, and he allowed you to take the lead, after coming to the conclusion that he was thinking too much just from the connection you two endured in. Lip lock after lip lock left him jittery, until you backed away completely.

A lovestruck smile was all that could be seen from him, and it caused you to laugh.

"Can we go outside?" You'd hoped he understood what your love filled actions had meant. They weren't done out of desperation but.. out of longing. It was supposed to mean that you wanted to keep the connection you had.

Clearly he got the memo, never letting go of your hand.

"No umbrellas. Just us."
