5. The job.

I woke up to my alarm screaming. AGAIN! I hit the snooze button like 4 times then I realized.....SHIT!
CCPD! I jumped up and it was 7 okay so I had a house to shower. Dress. Smell good. Brush hair. Coffee. Make up.
I I got wide eyed.... yea um I c-can do this. I hurried through everything except my make up of course cause I don't want to look like a panda bear on some good bamboo. I checked the time 7:40. Shit. No time for coffee???? I couldn't believe this. I jumped in my car and drove to the CCPD.

When I got there I forgot how I got to where Iris took me so I took me like 5 minutes to figure out. I look at the time 7:58! I hurried up the steps. "Hi Joe." I tried not to sound tired.
He looked amazed as if I wasn't support to be on time.
"Hey Emma your kind of early aren't you?"
"No it's 8 I stoped..... it's 7." I'm sorry I must have set my alarm wrong or something."
"That's okay Captain Sighn won't be to hard on you."

The guy I saw yesterday with the brown shirt hair jogged up the steps an started to walk to his lab.
"So did you ever find out. Cop or assistant?"
That question took my by surprise. All of my thoughts from yesterday faded and I blurted. "Um cop."
Immediately I regretted it. I'm going to get shot! I thought.
He also looked surprised at that to. He pointed to the door staring left from all the cops desks. I walked and knocked on. The captains door.

He opens the door he also looked surprised. What is nobody ever early here I thought.
He gestured for me to come in so I did I took a seat.

"So" he cleared his throat. "I heard you wanted a job here is that correct?"
"Yes sir." I said.
"What position would you like?"
"Cop" I blurted.
"Cop" he said again surprised.
"Well I'll tell you what. If you be a assistant let's say a month and we know your serious then we will see about being a cop."
"Okay when do I start?"
He said as he looked at his watch! "Right now."
"Someone show her where Allen's lab is" he screamed.

Joe walked up to guide me. We started walking down the hall.
"So no cop?" He said.
"He needs me to be on the assistant job for at least 4 months so he knows I'm serious." I said.
We headed down a flight of stairs and we was there. We stoped at the door and I said "thanks" he flashed a smile and walked off.

I knocked on the door of the lab. I didn't want to barge in and be disrespectful or annoying I wanted to be polite as possible after all I'm a assistant, and suppose to make like easier. I'm already starting to sound like a assistant 4 minutes in I cringed. The door opens and awkwardly I tried to change that cringe into a smile.
"Hi! Captain sighn wants me to be the new assistant." It was the boy with brown short hair.
He smiled and gestured me to come in as he held the door open.

"Okay so what do you want me to do?" I said as I looked around.
He smiled and he replied "you could organize some of my cases if you don't care,you don't have to though it j-."
I cut him off. "It's okay". I laughed. "I'm the assistant."
He pulled up a chair for me at my desk and we walked and sat at his down.

He backed up in his folly chair as he gathers all of his papers and handed them to me.
"How do you want them organized"I asked to break the silence.
"By date would be amazing."
I started looking trough the dates on the papers.

"Hey sorry, I think I misplaced something." He looked up to me with worry and his eyebrows scrunched up. You could tell he didn't want to bother me.
I looked at the papers he handed me. "What's it about?" I asked.
He said "a guy named Clyde and to do with murder." He said looking at the papers I was shuffling worry still on his face.
"Found it." Instantly he felt felt calm. I handed him the papers. I eventually got done with sorting the papers.

"Done" I said as I jumped off of my chair and landed a full stack of paper on his desk."
"Thank you so much."He said
"Anything else I can do?
"I can't think of anything."
I sat at my desk and put my feet in my chair and spun slowly. I heard him laugh and he kept doing his work.

I stoped spinning I put my boots on the desk.
"So your new?" He asked smiling as he writes to break the silence.
"Yea I just moved here a few days ago actually."
"Why'd you decide to move?" this time he was more concentrated on what he was writing.
"Honestly I have no idea." He looked up at me confused he repeated. "You have no idea?"

I said "yea pretty much. I don't really even know anyone up here just a a few I've met."
The day ended after I said that it was 3pm I was acually surprised on how late it was.
We both started packing our stuff to leave. Started to walk out of the door then he said

"Hey um Emma?" I looked at him "Yea".
"If you want I could let you meet some of my friends since your new and everything." He said.
"Sounds like I plan" I smiled.
"What about jitters tomorrow at-"
My cell phone cut him off I awnserd I held my hand over the speaker.
"Sorry when was that?"
He smiled "6pm."

"I'll be there" I agreed.
I started to walk out outing the phone to my ear. Me and kat talked for about a hour about random stuff.
I brought up I got a job and I met someone that's going to introduce me to there friends.
"Emma he's totally into you!"
"Kat first how did you know it was a guy and second it's just because I was new." I assured her.
We continued talking. And she brought up at least 3 guys she dated over the past week. Sometimes she kills me.
She is boy crazy. We hung up finally.

I jumped on my couch and threw a cover over me and turned on the Tv.

The flash stoped a armed robber at the bank today and saved a cat from a tree.
Woman: there's a guardian ang-

I turned the tv down. That stuff is getting annoying. I put on mute. I don't know hat happened but I must have fallen asleep on the couch. I woke up at 8am not knowing the time i glanced at the tv as more flash sightings came on. I shut it off mad. I didn't have time to get dressed I threw on another shirt and I ran out the door.
I drove fast hopping I want going to be to late.
I showed up running a full sprint to the lab. I was happy Captain sighn didn't see me.

I walked in and Iris was sitting on Barry's desk.
"I uh hope I didn't intrude on something"I said breathlessly from running and awkwardly.
"Emma you didn't tell me you worked with my brother."
"Well foster that is" Barry added.
Barry said "wait you two know each other?"
"Yea" Iris said.

I sat at my desk and apologized for how I look and the mess I was with my face in my hands.
Barry tilted his head as if he didn't understand what I said.
Iris said "no you look fine it's okay"
"I'm sorry I woke up late" I added.
Iris's watch went off she hugged Barry and said "I'm sorry I have to go bye."
Me and berry both said "bye" to Iris.

I felt awkward like I messed stuff up. I looked desperately to get everything on my mind off of it.
"Is there any paperwork I can do or something?" He saw the doubt on my face. He knew I needed to stop thinking.
He had no paperwork and he said desperately. "Emma are you okay?"

Nobody has asked that in a long time and I really thought about that question. Then I thought. I'm in a new place of course there's going to be some hard spots. I looked up and I could say honestly "Yea I think so" with a slightest smile.
"So jitters at 7pm." He said.

Honestly I forgot I feel like he was making sure I didn't. I looked up at him and I agreed "Yea".
After work I left and went home. That's when I acually got ready to go to jitters and meet Barrys friends.
