I was finally back at the arena. The entire room was filled with people, watching the ongoing fight eagerly. Even though we were underground surrounded by the chilly air, the memories of my first fight was enough warmth for me.
My team and I climbed up the ladder and went straight to our room. "Simple as always," I mumbled, looking at the sad excuse of a dressing room. We all grabbed our suits, hopping into them hastily. Finally, I thought. A suit that FITS!
Then I went over to the little patio to watch the fight. The first thing I saw were the fighters to the right-getting blown away by a powerful gust of wind, causing the crowd to cheer again. It was so powerful that it somehow caused my pigtails to flutter behind me. "And the Four Alphas have done it again!" The commentator said.
"They're good.." I said, completely shellshocked. "Ha! I've seen better!" Jodie cockily said. "They don't stand a chance. We have the PRIN-" "Shush!" I hissed at Gill, clasping a hand over his mouth. "Remember, down here I'm Crissie. I can't let my cover be blown."
".....cesssss," he whispered.
"AND they're a bunch of newcomers!" I gasped as I heard the announcer on the loud speaker. "They're NEW!?" I exclaimed. "That's right! New!"
My friends and I craned our necks to get a better view of the match. The final round had started. The team on the right looked completely beaten up. Their movements were sluggish and they staggered all over the place. But the other team, the 'Four Alphas', they looked totally energized.
Before the other team could attack, the air master from Four Alphas jumped forward and shot another air blast towards them, followed by a fire ball from another team mate. The poor, helpless fighters fell into the water below, a loud ding indicating that the match was over. "And the first match goes toooooo.... Four Alphas!" The announcer exclaimed.
They seemed like the real deal. They didn't even bother to take off their helmets or wave at the sea of undying supporters.
"Up next. Team Awesome!"
"Why can't we change that name?" Jodie groaned as she slammed her green helmet onto her head. I stood frozen in my spot, staring at the victors as they slowly walked away. "We're gonna have to fight them now, right?" I asked hesitantly.
"Yup!" Bill said, tossing me a helmet before shoving us through the door. "Have fun!"
"That's easy for you to say! You're not playing!" Gill growled.
~{*}~
We stood on our side of the fighting ground, getting ready for the fight. "Remember," Marco whispered. "You're Crissie, not the princess. Don't do anything too fancy." "You got it dude," I said sarcastically.
Soon our opponents came with the same monotonous outfits and faces that were hard to read. "Will the reigning champions be able to withstand the newcomers' wrath?" The commentator said.
"We'll see about that," I muttered.
"Let the match begin!"
It felt great to be fighting again. I had all the elements so I couldn't show off that much, but it was nice to use my water powers again. I attacked and dodged just like to good old days. It seemed like we were winning at first, our opponents were forced to stay close to the edge. I glanced at Gill, gesturing towards them.
Time for our special move! I thought excitedly. We had been practicing fighting moves that would combine our powers. Suddenly, Gill used his powers to blast me into the air. Then with all the power I had, I flung my hands towards the Four Alphas causing water to rush towards them.
Ding!
"Round one goes to Team Awesome!" The announcer said as my team mates and I gave each other high fives. "That wasn't too bad," I said, getting ready for the next round.
The moment the bell rang, Four Alphas started attacking us aggressively. Their attacks got dangerously close to us, causing us to back away to the edge. I was just able to see a fire ball heading straight towards Marco. Luckily he dodged it in time, caught it with his other hand and sent it back to our attackers.
His aim was on point and the fire ball knocked the earth master into the water below. Before anyone could react, a gust of wind came to us and knocked Marco off too. "Great..." I growled, using all my effort to deal some damage.
From the corner of my eye, I spotted a water ball hurling towards Jodie and smacking her in the face. Then she fell off. At that point, I was getting upset. There was no way I was going to lose to some new guys. All the anger payed off, and I was just able to hit two more opponents over the edge.
Then, it was left with me, Gill and the fire guy.
Gill and I nodded at each other, getting ready to attack him from both sides. The moment he blasted air towards him, he blocked it and sent Gill flying over the edge with a fire ball.
"Who will win?!" The announcer yelled over the crowd's screams. "Water or fire??"
The moment I glanced back at my opponent, it was already too late. I felt the heat of fire on my stomach, sending me flying off the platform. Time seemed to slow down as I fell. The look on his face showed that he was upset, some anger glimmering in his dark blue eyes.
Then, his anger suddenly disappeared and was replaced by an evil grin.
Wait, he doesn't know me does he? I thought nervously. No way.
I stared at him with a shocked expression. "Oh, he's good...." I mumbled before plummeting into the water.
