"What's going on?" I asked Shane after he'd returned. "Cat's out of the bag," Shane said under his breath. "What?" I asked. He glanced over at Rick before responding. "He just found abortion pills in his and Lori's tent and confronted her." "Oh my God," I gasped, covering my face with my hands. "She told him that she threw them up." "Did you tell him we knew?" I asked, he shook his head and sighed. "That's not everything. Hershel said this is his field to tend and he wants us gone by the end of the week. Hollie I want you to take Mable to the Wrangler and keep her away from the barn. This needs to end." "What are you going to do?" I asked, panic rising in my stomach. "Come on," He sighed, walking away without answering my question.
"Shane, wait!" I yelled, running to keep up with his quick pace. "I'm not doing this anymore. If Rick wants to go live in wonderland with them that's on him, I can't live like this." Shane said, continuing towards the Wrangler. "What are you doing?" I asked. "I'm protecting us," He said, opening the Wrangler's truck and grabbing his backpack. "Shane please, not like this. Not until we have a plan," I said breathlessly. " We're supposed to go to sleep tonight knowing we're next to a barn full of walkers? ... Daryl!" Shane called out, grabbing Daryl's attention as he walked past us. "Are you with me?" He asked, taking another rifle out of the trunk. "Shane, no. Not in front of Mable," I said, my eyes wide. Daryl looked at me for a moment before picking up the rifle. "I said put her in the Wrangler. Hollie, I'm sorry but this is too much," Shane said, turning and walking towards the barn. "Shane!" I yelled, following after him. "Shane, please just let me keep talking to him. This isn't the answer." Rick said, approaching us. "What do you want to talk about, Rick? How long have we been talking?" He scoffed. "We are guests here, the only choice we have is to pack up and leave," I said. "I can't leave that time bomb behind," Shane said over his shoulder. "Shane!" Hershel yelled, the screen door slamming closed behind him. "Hershel, I truly appreciate the hospitality, but this isn't something I can just sweep under the rug," Shane yelled over his shoulder, continuing towards the barn. "You are more than welcome to leave," Hershel called out bluntly. "This isn't something I'm comfortable just leaving behind," Shane said. "My farm, my barn, my say." Hershel yelled. Shane glared at him for a moment before walking to the edge of the barn and picking up a pick axe.
"Shane, stop!" Rick yelled, walking toward him. "I said enough's enough, Rick!" Shane said, returning to the door and swung hard at the lock. Sparks flew from the metal, but the chain remained intact. Rick took a step back, covering his mouth with his hand. I backed away as well, trying to put as much distance as possible between me and Mable and the danger. She fought against me, trying to turn to see what was happening. I stepped behind Rick and continued backing away. Shane shoved the blade into chain and pried backwards, the chain snapped and fell to the ground. He picked up the large board holding the doors closed and threw it angrily to the ground. "Come on!" He roared, beating on the door before stepping back and drawing his rifle while I stared in shock. The walkers began to slowly stumble out of the barn, wincing at the sunlight. "Hey, Hershel, man, let me ask you something. Could a living breathing person, could they walk away from this?" Shane asked, shooting the walker in the hip. "No!" Rick yelled. It stumbled for a moment, almost falling to the ground before regaining its balance and swinging at Shane. He fired again, the bullet exploding through the walker's chest. "Why's it still coming at me? That was the heart, the lungs...Why's it still coming?" Shane said as more walkers poured out of the barn door. Mable had been startled by the gunshots and looked concerned, but she wasn't as distressed as she had been before. Almost as if she was getting used to the chaos. I drew my revolver from my waistband and aimed it at the ground, hoping I wouldn't be forced to use it. "Shane, that's enough!" Rick yelled. "Yeah, you're right, man. That is enough." Shane said, shooting the walker in the head. Its head burst and sprayed the dirt around it with dark blood. "Enough living next to a barn full of things that are trying to kill us!" Shane yelled, shooting down another walker. Andrea and Daryl both drew their weapons and began firing as the rest of us watched in shock. Beth and Patricia screamed and sobbed as they held each other, Maggie stood next to them looking terrified and enraged.
The last walker fell and there was complete silence except for the smallest groans coming from inside the barn. There was another one in there. We watched as a small girl with short blonde hair walked out of the barn door. "Oh my God," I breathed, feeling my blood turn into ice. "SOPHIA!" Carol screamed, running towards her. Daryl reached out to stop her and they fell to the ground. Carol let out an ear-piercing guttural scream as Shane raised his rifled and fired at Sophia. Her head snapped backwards and she let out a guttural moan as she fell to the ground.
