The Camera That Started It All

30:Almost Time

I video called my mom to get answers

"Mom?"

"Hi sweetie!"

"I got a call from someone. He said his name is Hunter Rose and said he's my brother.."

Silence.

"M-mom?"

"I knew this day would come eventually.."

My mom's face dropped as soon as soon as I mentioned his name.

"Um well you see... This is harder then I thought it'd be. Yes he's your younger brother. I had to give him up for adoption because at the time I had too much on my plate and I couldn't deal with two kids at the time.. But then your sisters came along and I regretted giving him up."

"Mom we would've helped you."

"Your grandparents made me feel like I wasn't capable of taking care of him.."

"I want to meet him."

"Please do. Tell him we love him and he's apart of this family... Ev I wish I didn't give him up... I wanted what I thought was best for him."

"I know. And I'm sure he knows that."

"Can you do me a favor?"

"Absolutely!"

"If he's up to it. Can you ask him to come home?"

"Definitely!"

My mom and I ended our phone call and I needed a few to let all this information sink in.. I called him back to let him know I want to meet him.

"Hi, is this Hunter?"

"Yes. I'm so happy you called back I was worried you didn't want to see me."

"I just needed a few to process everything that's all."
"I get it. I needed a few hours to process it. Oh and happy birthday."
"Thank you!"
So when do you want to meet? I'm in Toronto right now."
"Im not too sure exactly."

Shawn jumped in and said he should come to our house tomorrow.

"Wait really? Are you sure?" Hunter questioned.

"10o%!"

"Wow thank you! Can you send me the address when you get a moment?"

"Of course!"

We said our goodbyes and hung up. And I sent him our address. I started jumping up and down around the house shouting.

"I HAVE A BROTHER! IVE GOT A BROTHER!!! I HAVE A LITTLE BRO!"

I jumped on Shawn's back and he starts laughing as he gives me a piggyback ride around the living room.

"TO THE FAMILY ROOM MENDES!!"

"Someone's happy."

"I HAVE A BROTHER!!!"

We entered the family room and Shawn walked to the couch.

"And this is your stop" And he placed me on the couch.

"But I was having fun! Party pooper!"

"Well I'm going on a lunch break. I'll be back."

"NO BRING ME TO THE KITCHEN! IM HUNGRY!"

"Ok fine you're such a child"

I jumped back onto his back and was brought to the kitchen. Shawn and I made sandwiches and once we finished and cleaned he continued the piggyback ride.

"Where to mad'am?"

"I wanna lay down."

He walked up the stairs and brought me to our room and plopped me on the bed.

"Thank you sir."

"I'll be back in a bit. I'm gonna shower"

He leaned down and kissed me and walked out the bedroom. So far this birthday is going great, I found out I have a younger brother,I'm getting piggyback rides around the house, and I can do whatever I want.Then I grabbed my camera and laptop so I could download the rest of the photos. I came across the photos of my love in a crowd of fans at his concerts with a huge smile on his face and couldn't help smile back. I hear him humming in the shower trying to find new melodies for new songs. I figured once he had one he'd want to start writing so I went into his music room and grabbed his lyric book and a guitar. I walked back into the bedroom and placed everything on the bed carefully. About 10 minutes later he finished showering and walked back into our room.

"Any new material?"

"I think. I don't know? Maybe?"

"I grabbed your stuff in case you did."

"Thanks babe"

I picked up my camera and started to take pictures of him.

"Show me sassy!"

"Huh? Oh ha ha"

"POSE!"

"Fine fine"

He started to pose and we had a mini photoshoot I
gotta admit this was funny.

"Shoot. Low battery. Rain check?"

I charged my camera and uploaded the photos to my laptop.

"Oooo that's a good one!

"My face looks red."

"I'll make black and white versions."

"Deal! I'm gonna start a theme!"

"Oy vey. Watch once tour starts up again it'll die.

"HOW DARE YOU INSULT MY INSTAGRAM FEED!"

"You already deleted the bird app..Anywho what time can Hunter come over?"

"Whenever you want."

I texted Hunter saying he could come over now and he agreed. I can't believe this is happening! I'm meeting my brother!
