Chapter 2

Madison's POV

When I get up to the office, I take a deep breath before walking into the large office space. Before I even get 5 steps in the door, Angelica is right in front of me. I am soon reminded of how scary this woman is.

She scowls and says, "You're late, Madison."

I glance sheepishly at the ground before starting, "Sorry. I forgot my camera at home."

She glances at me like, disappointed but not surprised. She takes a deep breath, and says "well, you kinda need it" I nod, and she continues "don't forget it tomorrow."

With that, she turns around walking away, and I assume that she wants me to follow her, so I do. She leads me through an office that is not exactly like what I expected. It is set in large open work spaces along with the traditional cubicles along the walls. It seems like the people have very different tastes in everything because as we walk by there are posters of P!nk and Prince and everything in between. Even musicals such as Dear Evan Hansen. Other than music, there are tons of drawings to turtles taped up in one area. On another wall, there seems to be a collage of poetry about almost everything. Even farther along there's a French flag, a gay flag, and an American flag all up side by side. Everybody seems to have their crap together, but at the same time it is complete chaos, and I love it.

I have never worked in the type of environment I can tell this is, but I do think that I am going to like it.

I am snapped out of my trance by Angelica starting to speak again.

"As you can see," she starts, as we approach a cubicle with blank walls, "This will be your cubicle. Jefferson's cubicle is to your right, but he is not here yet. He should be," she glances at a clock on the wall, "within the hour. He will have information on some of the things he needs for his articles. For now, you can get your things situated."

With that, she turns on her incredibly high heels and walks back to the front of the building.

I pull out the chair of my desk and sit down, also setting my backpack on the desk and opening it. I pull out my camera, setting it on the corner of my desk, and leaving the tripod in the bag. I set my laptop in the middle of the desk and set my backpack on the floor.

I am about to open up my laptop when 2 men about my age walked in the door hand in hand. They looked around, and when their eyes landed on me, they looked confused. The shorter on pointed at me and the taller one with curly hair nodded. They started walking over, so I turned around in my chair.

When they got over, I stood up so that I would be at about eye level with them. They were both shorter than me. The shortest one had dark brown hair in a ponytail. He's wearing an old hoodie and looks like he just rolled right out of bed.

The one who is taller than the first has big bushy hair that looks like it took a while to tame into the ponytail he now has it in. He's wearing a shirt with the Heathers musical poster on it, and he seems like he got a much more reasonable amount of sleep than his counterpart.

The shortest one starts, with a disgruntled, "who are you?"

The one with the large hair lightly punches him in the shoulder, before saying, "I am sorry about my boyfriend's lack of tact. My name is John Laurens. This is Alexander Hamilton. Call him Alex. I'm a photographer and he's a journalist. But I guess his question had grounds. Who are you?"

"I- I'm James Madison." I stutter nervously, "I am a- ah photographer."

Alex grins and says, "Are you paired up with a journalist."

"Umm. Yes, I think. Just let me get the paper." I dig around in a folder I still have in my backpack for an embarrassingly long time, before finding it, and reading, "I am paired up with 'Thomas Jefferson'. Do you know who that is?"

Both of the guys look each other like they are not sure if they should laugh or cry.

"What," I ask.

"Jefferson." Alex says, "Oh my God. I know I should feel sorry for you, and I do, but he is a piece of work."

"Okay..." I say nervously.

John looks at me sympathetically, before starting, "You'll see what we mean. Also, do you happen to want to join us for lunch later? If you aren't busy, we would love to get to know you. Also, you may want a break from Jefferson."

"I would love to come," I respond. As nervous as I am, John and Alex seem nice.

"Sounds good"

Hey guys! So I'm sorry this took so long to get out, but I hope you like it! I want to make Alex and John be together already, and they are just the annoyingly cute couple lol. Well, I hope you liked it!
