Audrey noticed as Lucas's body relaxed after a few minutes of getting used to her driving. Most everyone who drove with her eventually relaxed realizing that she was in control of the car. Lucas smiled and let out a small laugh. Audrey didn't react focusing on moving passed two cars to get behind Paul's mustang.
"Who are you Audrey Wood?" Lucas said, laughing to himself.
Audrey didn't respond except for a small smile. She followed the curves of the road as they left the neighborhood of the rich and made their way into normal traffic, the city illuminated in front of them, looking as if it had risen from nowhere. Audrey threw Lucas another glance and saw the rush of air had sent his brown hair rippling, his face wearing an amazed smile. He looked over at her and caught her look.
"Seeing if I still have that petrified look that most your passengers wear?" Lucas said, a laugh in his voice.
"I'm offended at that comment, everyone I drive with says I'm a great driver." Audrey said.
"I'm sure they say that once the fear and terror has worn off and they have made it to their destination alive." Lucas said.
"Okay say what you want but how about I let Paul drive you home and then tell me how my driving is." Audrey said, shrugging.
"Why is he a bad driver?"
"Not terrible but he thinks he handles a car better than he does and that's almost worst."
She pulled the car off the freeway and into the roar of the city. Buildings loomed over them and car horns assaulted their ears. Everywhere they looked crowds of smartly dressed people laughed and hung outside bars and buildings exploding with music. Audrey moved the car up to a curb outside a restaurant with a full patio and tall windows that looked out on the street.
"Here you are, Wallace, don't dent it." Audrey said, getting out of the car and tossing the keys to a valet.
"Wouldn't dream of it." Wallace said, climbing in the car.
"Glad you made it in one piece, I see Audy drove you." Paul said.
"Yeah I didn't really have a choice." Lucas said.
"They never do. I've seen many of guys try and drive better than that girl and it never happens." Paul said.
"I believe that." Lucas said.
"I'm glad she didn't scare you Lucas, you should know she really is a softy." Charlotte said, smiling at Lucas.
"Not sure I believe that." Lucas said.
He smiled at Audrey and she laughed.
"Good to know you don't believe everything you hear. Now let's eat." Audrey said.
They met the rest of Charlotte's and Paul's friends in the back room and Lucas was quickly introduced to the rest of the people he didn't meet at the polo game. A few girls sat around him during dinner and kept him entertained. Audrey heard giggles floating from their end of the table from time to time and smiled at the fact she was right about the girls loving a new face.
Two hours later they headed down the street to their favorite club, two girls hanging on Lucas's arm. Audrey walked with Declan, their arms linked and Charlotte and Paul directly in front of them. Walking passed the line of people outside the building, they entered the club and headed over to the VIP section. Waiting for them with a drink in his hand was a tall, dark haired guy in a tailored suit, his posture relaxed as he sat in one of the couches.
"James!" Charlotte said excitedly.
She left Paul's arm and hugged the guy as he stood.
"What are you doing here? I thought you were in Europe for another week?" Charlotte said.
