Devon could hear the fast beating of his heart but he doesn't know what it means. But before he could dwell more with his current unexplainable feelings, he heard numerous light footsteps that were approaching their location at fast pace.

Without any hesitation and reluctance, Devon carried the Princess securely on his arms. With strong arms wrapped around her small waist, they leaped up and flew into the air. Their figures reflected a shadow of a pair running for elopement under the beautiful moonlight of the shining full moon.

"Princess..."

"Hmm..." Hillary replied in a sleepy tone.

Due to the cold winds caressing her gorgeous face like a beautiful lullaby in the solitary night, Hillary yawned and buried her sleepy head on Devon's warm chest. Even though she knew they were still in danger, the fact that she felt comfortable and safe under Devon's protection lessened her apprehensions.

"I'll leave you for awhile at a safer place--"

"NO!"

Hillary's sleepiness immediately vanished into thin air hearing him say those words she dreaded. She don't want to be left alone in this new and cruel world she had transmigrated into. Though she have a full knowledge of this world since she's the sole creator of this piece, Hillary could still not have enough courage and bravery to be standing on her own foot. She knew no one in this world that would help her, at least, live a normal and peaceful life until she could find a way to comeback home.

All she has left was Devon. Hillary would not let him leave her only to suffer like what the original host had been. She's scared of that predestined event to happen on her. Though she knew the following events that would take place like the back of her hand, doesn't mean she was already safe and can live peacefully. She feared that the most - to die helplessly in this unfamiliar world she had created cruelly for the villainess in the story.

No matter how Hillary can delay her path towards death's door, it would surely take place anytime and anyhow. This story she created would not be running without the existence of a villainess under the character of Princess Hillary Artemis - the host body she's currently residing in. And that's the big problem because she don't want to become bad and suffer a thousand thorns in this world nor die a miserable death.

Hillary's pair of beautifully carved hands that were placed on Devon's chest suddenly gripped the latter's clothing. She looked up with her misty eyes looking so pitiful and cute at the same time. But Devon did not spared her a glance, not even a second glance.

"You...You... promised. You won't leave me alone..." Hillary accused with an evident panic tone on her trembling voice.

Devon sighed. "I'll be back before you know it..."

A sudden warm and moist feeling settled on Hillary's head. When she looked up again, Hillary did not see any suspicious trace on Devon's stoic face. The feeling was so light like a feather touch but she knew she felt it. However, looking at Devon's expressionless face gave her a second thought.

I must be imagining things on my own...

Not that long, the two of them went deeper into the forest. The trees became even more denser and the surroundings went darker as they moved forward. Not even the moonlight can pass through the densely packed large trees.

Devon stop at a particular large tree where there was a small opening under the roots enough to fit a small person.

"Stay here Princess..."

Devon unwrapped his arms that surround Hillary's small waist but the latter was stubborn. Before Devon could leave, Hillary hugged him tightly and placed her left rosy cheek on his back.

"Its dark in here. I can't see anything. Please don't leave..." Hillary whispered under the dead, quiet night of the forest.

"Wait for me here..."

Devon hardened his heart and unwrapped the tight gripped of the Princess on him. Without sparing another glance, he vanished in the blink of an eye into the darkness and wilderness of the forest.
