We had reached Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, Hawaii at 10 PM. I could feel my back burning from sitting for straight 12 hours. I must've taken loo breaks but that cannot be taken into consideration.Currently,I hurriedly but carefully finished the post flight inspection only to get to the hotel room as soon as possible!
"Mr. Ford, your car is waiting for you outside. Let me take your luggage. How was the journey?" Derek asked. Since it wasn't my first time to Honolulu, I could recognize afew familiar figures working at the airport here.
"What would a journey be like if you have a female co-pilot assisting you?" I mumbled.
"sorry?"
"nah.. it was fine. Fortunately the weather was favoring us today." I answered with a sly smile.
Without any delay I walked out towards the car with Derek half carrying-half dragging my luggage behind me. I couldn't eat much in the flight which only triggered my frustration to the last levels of a frustratometer.
"Driver has been informed to drop you at the The Royal Hawaiian. When is your next flight? I'll have the driver pick you up." Derek pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket after giving my bag pack and suitcase to the driver.
"My next flight is at 9pm tomorrow. Send the driver around 7pm?"
"Sure sir. See you tomorrow. Good night" With a two handed handshake he went inside to resume his duty and I climbed inside the car.
After 20 minutes, we reached the hotel where the crew members were given rooms for stay after finishing their flights. Leaving luggage in the car I headed towards the lobby to get the keys of my room.
As I walked inside I could see the floor was tiled in fine marble, which made every step echo. A chandelier made rainbow colors dance across the luxurious lobby. Embroidered silk sofas surrounded a large, flat-screen television. The twin doors that led into the lobby were a pristine white with golden handles. The desk was made of amber-colored wood and a green granite top. Exquisite paintings hung from the rich, cream colored walls. Even the door hinges were engraved with swirls and elegant designs.
"Mr. Harrison Ford! Good evening sir! We've been waiting for you." The obese, sun tanned man spoke to me in a very professional yet friendly tone.
"Sorry for the delay sir. We had a confusion at the airport back in Toronto. Can I get the keys to my room?" I could feel the fatigue even in my voice.Never did I feel this tired before. Ladies and their arguments can drain any man on this planet!
"Sure" he handed the keys to one of the staff members who were dressed as though they were on a vacation.
Except me the whole lot of population here seemed to have been vacationing!
After the usual post arrival events, I paid a tip to the worker and shut the door with a sigh.
The view outside was comforting. I could see the beach, palm trees, fancy lights, couples walking around.
Like lull before the storm, my phone started ringing disturbing the calm tranquil. Seeing the caller ID I threw the mobile back on the bed and decided to take a warm shower, have dinner and sleep right after.
~~
Slowly and reluctantly, I uncovered my face. Blinked, closed my eyes, and blinked again. Streaks of sunlight penetrated the window only to blind me. The fatigue from yesterday seemed to have seeped out of me.Sitting up straight I could see the beach and children playing with sand. In the middle of my screening, I saw a figure standing on the balcony next to mine. Her hair were covering her face as they danced along with the wind. I wiped my eyes with my knuckles to get a better vision. She was wearing a white shirt with grey tracks but I still couldn't see her face.
