Ashton:
"We’re getting fresh meat later today," Your boss announces, making you look up from your notepad for a second before you reverted your attention back onto your doodles. "I expect you all to treat him good and show him the ropes, because he’s my nephew who needs money and you all need to take good care of him." You rolled your eyes, shaking your head as you continued doodling onto your notepad. "Make sure he doesn’t burn anything down," She continues, and you let out a chuckle. "That is all." Those were your boss’ last words to everyone before they all nodded, dispersing and continuing whatever they were doing. You have been working at this diner for almost a year now, and you absolutely despised it. You didn’t despise it simply because the employees were horrible, nor was the boss, because every single person working here was kind to you and offered you guidance, including your lady boss. You just hated work in general which is the reason why you didn’t like your work, and you usually spent your breaks doodling on your notepads so you had to buy another notepad every two weeks. You hated work but you needed the money cause like most teenagers, you were broke and wanted to buy so many things for yourself. You heard the bell ring and you groaned, knowing that was the signal of the end of your shift. You stood up, grabbing your notepad and your pen off the counter to take an order, but you were stopped by your lady boss who was calling your name. You approached her slowly, wondering if she caught you doodling while she was announcing something about a new guy or if you did anything wrong. "As you may know, we’re having a new employee today and he is my beloved nephew," She says and you nodded, but you already knew that. "He’s about the same age as you and I want you to teach him everything that needs to be taught," She continues, making your eyes widen. You already did enough work but to further add the amount of work you need to exert by teaching the new boy? That was not something you wanted to agree on, absolutely not. "But-" "Please, I’ll pay you extra for your time, just please teach him and maybe even befriend him? He just returned from Sydney recently and he’s moving here for uni, it would mean a lot if you would be his first friend in a new place." Although you didn’t like the thought of extra work, you liked the sound of extra cash flowing into your pocket and you weren’t paid enough as it is. You couldn’t just turn down an opportunity to get more money than you were paid, so you nodded, agreeing to teach this nephew of hers. She shoots you a smile, telling you that he will be here soon and you prayed that it was a cute boy because there was a lack of cute boys in this part of town. You were shooed away, and you groaned at the sound of the bell being rung over and over, making your head hurt. Whoever had the audacity to ring that annoying bell over and over better had a good reason, because no words could describe how annoyed you were at this moment. You walked up to the counter, eyes shut as you tried to get rid of the headache that was brought to you by the ringing of the bell. "Excuse me?" A masculine voice began, your eyes fluttering open and you were met with beautiful green eyes and deep dimples. "My name is Ashton and I’m supposed to start work here today."
Michael:
"I can’t believe someone’s moving in next door," Your mother mused, she seems happy about the fact that someone’s finally moving in at the vacant house next door. It’s been empty for almost a year since the last couple moved to Alaska. A few families have moved into that house for the past ten years now, but they didn’t have any children your age so you didn’t bother making friends with them. You were friends with one of them when you were six years old, before he and his family moved away. They’re the original owners of the house, and they moved all the way to London because of a job opportunity. You became best friends with this boy, and you still remembered his name - Michael Clifford. He was a very fun boy, he didn’t like to play outside though, he preferred to play indoors and play his consoles, which you preferred as well. He taught you how to play the PlayStation 2 and ever since then, you’ve been into video games. You missed him terribly, he was the very first friend you’ve ever made in your life and he was also a huge part of your life. To have him disappear on you suddenly made you sad, and you didn’t go out of your room for a week when he left. You didn’t really know if it was because he was your friend, or if it was because you had a huge crush on him back then as well. He never contacted you afterwards though, it was understandable because you were both young and the only way to communicate back then were through letters and calls, as we were both too young to use emails. You took another bite of your toast, chewing it thoughtfully when you heard tires screech from the outside. Your mother squealed and peeked through the windows, smiling. "They’re here, they’re here!" She turned to you, a huge grin plastered on her face as she clasps her hands together, "I should make them a cake to welcome them! I want you to take the cake to them later alright? Make them feel welcome in this neighborhood." She tells you, as she rushes to gather the ingredients to bake a cake as you rolled your eyes. You shook your head, not wanting to socialize with anyone because it was a wonderful summer day, and you were lazy but you were also pretty curious about your new neighbors. You shrugged, shoving the last of your toast into your mouth and raced up the stairs, you paused your CoD game to eat breakfast and you were in the zone then. You just hoped that you were still in the zone when you returned, and you entered your room and shut the door behind you. Grabbing your controller, you checked the time and estimated the number of minutes you had to play until your mother calls you back downstairs to give the cake to the new neighbors. After about an hour of playing, your mother peeks her head out from your door, raising your eyebrows at you. You groaned, pausing the game and followed her into the kitchen. She handed you a nice-looking chocolate cake and you sighed, as you awaited her instructions. "Take this to them, and tell them I send my regards and my welcome. Oh, and invite them over for dinner in the weekend okay?" You just nodded, and proceeded to take the cake to your new neighbor’s house. As you walked up the walkway, butterflies fluttered in your stomach for no reason and you wondered why. You knocked on the door lazily, and scratched the back of your head with your free hand when you heard shuffling from behind the door. The door opened and you were met with beautiful jade green eyes and a handsome face, making your eyes widen. The beautiful boy standing in front of you was pale, and you were entranced by his gorgeous green eyes and those beautiful plump lips. "May I help you?" He asked, eyeing the cake in your hand. You nodded, your cheeks heating up a bit, "Yeah, my mum wants me to give this to you as a welcome," You held the cake out for him to take, then you heard a woman’s voice from the house. A beautiful blonde woman pops out from behind the tall teenager, looking at you with a huge smile. "Y/N, it’s so nice to see you after so long!" She grins, taking your face in her hands as she looked at you. "And you’ve grown so much, I barely even recognize you anymore." The woman seemed so familiar with you, and you actually felt pretty bad when you didn’t know who she was. But you feel like you’ve seen her somewhere though. She must’ve realized that you were looking at her weirdly, so she laughed and released you, placing a hand on her son’s shoulder. "My name is Karen and this is my son, Michael, you two used to play together when you were children." And it all came back to you, the memories and the feelings you previously held for a certain Michael Clifford. Your eyes flickered to the handsome boy who had his hair dyed a black and red, who seemed to look at you weirdly as well, "Michael Clifford," you breathed out, your heart racing at the mention of your first crush’s name.
