The whole pack was buzzing, the next alpha had been born and a party had been planned a week later.

With the news of a baby alpha being born, I had been excused from my psychologist appointments for this week.

The week before the party had been dragging on, Electra was talking to me again and had asked if we could go running again before training and I agreed. We went a couple of days in wolf form and the few days that we didn't my mind began to wander.

She ran ahead of me a few times and watching her in her tight shorts had me on edge of doing something stupid.

Thankfully the party was later tonight and a lot of people from neighbouring packs were coming to visit and that meant women that could take my mind off Electra. I had been thinking of her a lot lately and it was beginning to worry me.

Shauna had been ignoring my texts, besides the one I sent her asking if she was still alive, I hadn't seen her around the pack at all and she hadn't told me where she was. Not that she had any obligation to me to tell me where she was.

Best I could guess was she was staying at a friends pack which she did sometimes, although it was bad for me as most of the other females in our pack had mates, the person I had been fantasising about was off limits and I resorted to taking matters into my own hands... literally.

I had barely spoken to Cade, he seemed more cheery now his son was born though, he actually seemed happy the few times we had spoken and I could feel our old friendship slowly starting to return.

As Electra and I made our way back to the pack house after our run I noticed a few cars pulling up, I took this as a time to get ready for the party and Electra and I parted ways. I muttered a "see you later" to her and she just smiled and walked away.

I couldn't help but feel something was going on with her, she was mostly quiet when we went on our run and although she'd put on a smile I could see something was bothering her.

I was interrupted by my thoughts when I noticed Shauna walk through the door. I smiled at her, she half smiled back and I walked over to her for a hug but she stepped away "what's wrong?" I looked at her for answers.

She had conflicting emotions on her face, she looked happy and sad at the same time. She sighed "remember how we would tell each other everything?" I nodded "do you also remember when we said we wouldn't be able to do that when we found our mates?" She looked into my eyes and I knew where this was going.

"You found your mate?" I asked half shocked and half happy.

A small smile appeared on her face and she nodded.

I couldn't understand why she looked so sad "if you found your mate then why do you look so unhappy?" I asked concerned.

"Because now you will have no one to share your secrets with" she looked sad. I was about to say something but then someone walked up behind her and put an arm around her waist.

She looked up at him and grinned, the love that I saw in her eyes reminded me of the time Cade introduced me to Emily.

"This is my mate Dylan, Dylan this is my friend and beta Kyan" Shauna introduced us.

I smiled at him and shook his hand "nice to meet you" I nodded at him and he muttered a 'you too' I took this as my time to get out of there "I should go get ready for this party, I'll see you guys later" then I was off to my room.

I was happy for Shauna to have found her mate, but I was once again reminded of how lonely I felt. I would have no more deep and meaningful conversations with the only person who actually believed me two years ago and it depressed me slightly.

I went to my room and decided I'd stay there for the next few hours until the party was in full swing. I had seen them setting up tents outside and the big bonfire was already piled up with logs and sticks. It was going to be a good night.

*******

I left my room a few hours later, I made my way outside and decided that the outdoor bar is where I needed to be right now. I made my way through the crowd and said hi to a few people who knew me. When I reached the bar I asked for three shots straight up, I knew at most it would get me tipsy and it was most likely only the start of my night.

I stayed at the bar for another hour, just drinking bourbon and feeling sorry for myself. It wasn't until I felt a slight breeze that I decided to head to the bonfire, on shaky legs and take a seat on one of the logs.

The fire was nice, I took a look around me, noticing Electra on another log a bit further away and I smiled and waved to her. It took all my control not to go over to her, I had to start distancing myself from her, her eighteenth birthday was in just over a week and I had to get her off my mind before she finds her mate.

As if on cue someone sits next to me "so, she wasn't really your girlfriend?"

I knew it was Amelia without looking "I told you that"

I felt her move closer "I'm sorry for what I said" she moves closer again "I could make it up to you by finishing what we started?" She says seductively

As much as I wanted to jump someone's bones I had someone else in mind and Amelia's advances weren't really having an effect. I looked over at Electra and notice that Shauna had taken a seat next to her. They were in conversation and both of their eyes kept flickering to me. I wonder what they're talking about?

I hadn't noticed Amelia had moved closer to me and placed a hand on my thigh. I could feel my head spinning as the alcohol kept getting absorbed into my system.

"Come on babe, this is your pack, we can go to your room?" She whispers into my ear as she takes my earlobe into her mouth and sucks on it. I let out a slight groan but my attention wavers to where Electra was sitting and I notice she's not there.

Shauna remains in her place, she shakes her head and points toward the pack house "hey I have to go, sorry" I get up and leave Amelia sitting there as I go after Electra. I knew something was wrong.
