The next day, there was school and I was so tired... and I woke up late! I digged around my dresser for my school uniform; why couldn't mum just put me in public school? I found my blouse and skirt, but could find my tie or jumper. I stood in the middle of my room with my hands on my hips. "Fuck," I mumbled to myself. Then, I remember they were in my closet. I quickly grabbed them, loosely tying the tie around my neck, and slipping the jumper over my head; in a hurry. I grabbed my bag full of unfinished homework, and slipped my phone into my bag too.
I'm so dead! I mutter many profanities into my head, as I ran out the door. I can picture the principal now, "Leilani Sahyounie, what have I told you about be late, nah nah nah, nag, nag, nag!" I ran to school as fast as I can, I could of waited for a bus, but no I have to be there in 5 minutes and school is 10 minutes away, if you rode in a car. The bus there are umpteen million stops, so I'm good running. Why didn't Skip wake me up, you may ask? Well, he gets up two hours early to go to the gym to work out, and my mum usually works late so she sleeps in; so I'm all alone. I quickly rested, my hands on my knees, panting.
"You alright?" a car pulled up to me, it was Beau.
"Oh trying to catch my breath, so I don't die. I'm pretty sure when I get to school though I'll be dead." I laughed dryly.
Beau laughed, "Get in, I'll drop you off, I just dropped off Luke and Jai, but I guess you could need the lift. Skip told me about your tendencies of being late." I grinned.
"Beau, you are my savior! I know I'll still be late, but at least I don't have to run!" I jumped into the passenger seat. Beau then turned around and drove Penola, going as fast as he legally could.
We pulled up, and I gave him a quick hug, "Thanks so much!"
He smiled, "You're welcome, now go, you hooligan!" he joked.
I flipped him off, and made my way to the front entrance, as quiet as I can. I opened the door, trying to be quiet. It squeaked a little, and I cringed. Just open it as if you were ripping off a band aid. I opened it enough to squeeze me through, as I got in my bag got stuck. I pulled it out and the door slammed, shit.
Then, one of the teachers came out of the classroom, the one and only, Mr. Berns, he was always been out to get me ever since year 9. "Miss Sahyounie, I see you are tardy, again. Nine minutes exact. Principals office now." he said in a firm voice. I sighed, and dragged my feet to the principal's office.
I sat down in the plastic and metal, squeaky, uncomfortable chairs outside the office. I started chipping at my nail polish, as I waited. They should get new chairs, I swear if I sit down in this chair again it will break, because it so old. The door opened to reveal a kid walking out with his head hung in shame, and Principal Bixby walked out.
Principal Bixby smiled cruely, "Miss Sahyounie, what a expected surprise! Come in!" I got up and followed her in, "Please do close the door." she said. I did what she said, and took a seat. "Leilani, Mr. Berns has informed me you were late again, do explain ." She looked into my eyes. They were like vulture eyes; vulture eyes boring into my soul.
"I went to bed late, and woke up late." I muttered.
She quirked an eyebrow, "Staying up late doing all the homework you need to make up?"
I sighed, "No,"
"Hmph, figures. Leilani you come into school late, you don't do your work for your lessons, your grades are slipping; I remember when you first came into grade nine you were intelligent girl, always turned in everything, and would always be on time. I know that there is a bright, intelligent girl inside. So that is why I'm making you go to Tutoring club," she stated.
