EXT. ROCKY HILLSIDE, LUKE'S ISLAND (AHCH-TO) - DAY
Under an overcast sky, Rey climbs up to meet Luke. He turns to face her, removing his hood. She reaches into her bag, extending her hand to present his old lightsaber.

He turns it in his hands, filled with emotion at seeing it again. He looks up, IGNITES the lightsaber and points it at her face.
LUKE: "Why are you here?"
She trembles, gets down on one knee.
REY: "My name is Rey... I'm with the Resistance."
He stares at her, narrow-eyed, implacable.
REY: "Leia sent me."
LUKE: "Leia..."
Shades of regret and something nearing anger color his voice.
LUKE: "Why you?"
REY (re: the lightsaber): "Because it... because there's something inside me..."
She can't explain. Luke DRAWS DOWN the saber and walks away.
REY (calling after him): "Master Skywalker..."
Luke turns, freezing her with his glare. This child can't imagine what the saber means to him, the painful memories it arouses. Disgusted, he extends his arm, VIOLENTLY HURLING the saber away.
REY: "No!"
She reaches out, instinctively drawing the hilt back to her hand.
Luke stands AMAZED. Then, in a mix of anger and anguish:
LUKE: "Get off this island!"
SMASH CUT; BLAST OF MUSIC--
EXT. VAST STAR FIELD - OUTER SPACE
SUPER:

Scrolling over the star field toward a distant vanishing point...
