Imagine if you will, the passing of a long period of
time. Imagine that in this time, no sound meets your
eardrums in order to vibrate them, and no light reflects
upon any object. No invasive thoughts occur to your mind,
like the shopping list on the kitchen table or the notion
that you'd enjoy a sexual encounter. You are quiet and
still. It is difficult to know how much time is passing,
because so little is going on. This is how the occupants
of that vast room passed the next while. They were staring
at each other, but without feeling uncomfortable or
obligated to say anything. They felt free to ponder
Gradient's words, and also welcome not to. It was nice.
Imagine, then, that this pleasant calm continues as
though it will never end, as though the entire concept of
an end is just a strange, unnecessary convention.
Then, imagine how it feels when some foolish
individual ruins all this. This is just how it felt to all
present when Dell blurted out,
"But, you can doubt doubt."
