"Kimberly Anne Harris! If you don't come down that stairwell in the next five minutes, I will punish you," my mom yelled from the base of the stairs.
"Very funny mom. You know as well as I do that you aren't going to do crap," I yelled back when I was walikng down the stairs.
"Oh, I know. I just though that I would be some sort of mom, you know the ones that you hate?"
"Yes I know, but mom. Do I really have to go tonight? I mean it's just a bunch of old farts standing around talking about how the church could get more people in it, and never do anything about it."
"Hey! I happen to be one of those old farts that you talk about. And yes you have to go tonight."
"I don't understand why though."
"Because I said so, and we are the preachers family."
As if on queue, my father walks in wearing his black slacks, white button up shirt, and a the hideous green and pink tie with stripes.
"Dad, mut you wear that tie?"
"Yes I must," he said in his sarcastic voice. In the process, he manged to walk over to my mom who is wearing her favorite dress, the purple maxi dress, that was too short because she was too tall for it. While I was admiring my mom's dress, my dad came in and gave my mom a kiss.
"Now did I hear my name in that conversation somewhere," my dad asked smiling.
My parents are perfect for each other. My mom, Jamie Capri Harris, married my dad, Daniel Ray Harris wen she was 20 because she got pregnant with me. Mom has always been real tall, blonde, and had blue eyes, that just made everyone stop and stare, not to mention, she was very skinny. She has the body everyone wants. Dad is taller than my mom, and has eyes brighter than hers, his hair is the average hair length for a guy in his 30's, short, but the short that looked good on him. He has abs, and his arms are very muscular. His jaw line is so defined, that he could cut someone with his jawline. They're a good looking couple, then you look at me. I have red hair, and freckles on every inch on my body. My eyes are brown, and I'm short and on the chubby side. Sometimes it feels like I don't belong in this family.
"Yes, babe we were," my mom said interrupting my thoughts.
"Thought so," my dad came in for another kiss.
"You two are gross."
"Thank you," they said simultaneously.
"Well we should going, don't want to be late," my mom said looking at her watch.
We got to the garage, where the key bowl is. Me and my dad both grabbed the keys at the same time, but I got them first. "I'm driving, please?" After being starred at for a while, he finally agreed. When we finally got in the car, I noticed my mom was in the front seat, which got me curious. "Hey mom, why are you up here, you're always in the back."
"I don't know, just thought it was a nice change."
"Alright, just don't be a backseat driver." We all laughed at this comment because my mom is the worst when it comes to that.
"No promises," she tried to say in between chuckles.
