Conner wasn't worried about a potential speeding ticket, even if he didn't have money to pay.

He refused to believe that The Brotherhood would prefer to have Knowlton than to have him. They had to defend the art of combat, and as much as Conner wanted Knowlton to expose himself over time so The Brotherhood could expel him next, it wouldn't change his own status on the blacklist, and killing him wouldn't get his name off the blacklist, either.

He coiled his fingers around the steering wheel, The Darkness looming, yearning for blood.

On the passenger's seat was a megaphone, the one used on the set of Model Citizen. He didn't ask Delilah how she smuggled it off the lot, but he was prepared to accept culpability saying it was he who stole it, and he made a mental note to thank her for this favor.

He pulled into the Elite parking lot inside the once-amiable strip mall, where the sight of fighters training taunted him.

He slammed his car door closed, megaphone in hand, which was heavy and resembled a firearm, complete with a hand strap and two triggers. Delilah had mentioned that technology like this was used by police to disperse rioters.

     It's loud, she warned.

     Perfect.

He burst through the entrance, surrendering to The Darkness

He burst through the entrance, surrendering to The Darkness. It was becoming his friend, and it alarmed him how little he minded.

Simon, who guarded the front desk, looked up from his homework and froze at the sight of Conner.
