Revolt

That night, I was going to meet El and the demogorgon in my backyard for a little field trip to Hawkins Lab. I wasn't sure about them being together because of conflicts but whatever. I had packed my flashlight, heavy duty batteries, lock pick, my dad's lighter and a can of bear spay because why the fuck wouldn't you need an extra can of that shit to go fight a psycho Ouija board-fucking entity from another dimension.

When I got back from Mike's house, everyone was in bed and probably asleep, except for dad who was working a late shift. El had left the house earlier when we were at school, so Mike couldn't trace her down. Yes, he had been worried out of his mind and I didn't like to do that to my friends, but it was the only way it could work. I  had considered slipped soundlessly through the house and grabbed my backpack and climbed out my bedroom window. At first, I didn't see either Eleven or the demogorgon, but then I climbed down the drainpipe and discovered El sitting in the porch loveseat, perfect for chilling out in during hot summer days, and I guess midwinter nights. The demogorgon, however, was standing beside a stack of Mom's plant pots on the other side of the yard. I was happy that he hadn't been reduced to ashes by El, but it still looked as though they had a disagreement; several of the pots were broken, and the two were having a staring contest to the death.

"Hey guys," I said, hoping to break the tension. El stood up and pointed accusingly at the demogorgon and said,

"Bad."

I rolled my eyes, tired of her rudeness.

"El, stop being a bitch," I snapped.

"What's 'bitch'?" She asked, eyebrows furrowed. The demogorgon made a demented hyena noise, which was probably him restraining a laugh.

"You don't know what a bitch is?"

Eleven raised an eyebrow at him, before he added,

"It's you."

I clapped my hands over my mouth to keep from laughing. That actually was pretty funny, and El just got roasted.

"Whatever, you two. Fix the bad blood, and let's get going."

We took the route through the woods, down a road past Will's house to get to Hawkins Lab. To avoid attracting attention, we used the way in through the alleyway via fire escape. To our luck, the hallways were deserted, and we took the elevator to the underground level, hoping that there wouldn't be a bunch of people to be presented their telekinetic fugitive, an interdimensional monster and a sketchy teen. Fortunately, the area around the elevator was closed off by glass, and the man at the computer had his back turned. Eleven stared at him and began to raise her arm, but the demogorgon stopped her.

"If you kill him, it's going to arouse suspicion. Let me take care of it."

With impossible stealth, he stalked through the door, which was thankfully unlocked, until he was right behind the computer man.

"Good night."

The poor guard never saw it coming. As soon as he turned to see who had said good night to him, he was met by a sucker punch to the temple. The guard dropped, falling instantly into a deep sleep. His ambusher repositioned his body so it looked like he was just sleeping on the job.  Even El looked surprised. The entrance unguarded, we stepped into the portal enclosure.

"What do you say?" I asked the demogorgon as we stood in front of the gateway.

"Our best bet is to close it. I don't think we can kill the Mind Flayer, so the least we can do is get rid of the gateway. El, could you take care of that?"

For once, they didn't fight over the request like cats and dogs- or demogorgons and telekinetics past their bedtimes. El strode forward with a sense of purpose and raised her hand to the giant, pulsating scar. It immediately began to blacken as though it were burning and slowly thin. A shadow passed on the other side of the gate. We had company. I made out a giant, elongated head in front of the portal. A smoke-like substance began to push its way through the tear, somehow resisting El's powers. The base of the gate broiled with activity. I made out legs, long tails and wiry bodies, and then they completely came through.
