A Secret

After we had finished resting up in the outskirts of the woods, we all agreed that me and Chelsea had been kidnaped during the night that we had left to investigate Hawkins Lab, and we had just escaped. Eleven would act like she had been tracking some paranormal activity, and had wandered a little far from home, or whatever she wanted to use with Mike, just so long as she didn't use the truth. The demogorgon had it easy, as there were probably no friends, parents or schools that had most likely sent cops to go find him, so he could just return to the usual.

So we continued along the edge of the woods, making our way out of downtown and back to the neighborhood. We all collectively let out a sigh of relief when we were out of the loud noises and bright lights and back in the comfort of our own familiar neighborhood. We decided to take a shortcut to Chelsea's house through the woods, since we had already killed enough time and we needed to get home fast. We could she the dim shape of her house through the mist of the forest, cast an eerie blue light by the moon.

"I knew it," the voice startled us all so bad that we didn't even jump, instead we froze, feet rooted to the ground for a few minutes before turning to face the source. "I knew from the start there was something up with you, and I should have known he'd be at the bottom of it."

The beam of Will's flashlight held us like a spotlight, as well as illuminating the distrustful expression on his face.

"Will! Oh my god, I missed you!" Chelsea said after a moment of silence, and Will's expression softened for a moment as he realized her.

"I missed you to, Chelsea," he said. Will then turned his accusing gaze back on me and my demonic friend and I. "That doesn't justify this; all of you broke the biggest, most vital rule of the party: friends don't lie. I want answers. Now."

Trapped and cornered, I explained to Will our stay in the Upside Down, except I told him that I had met the demogorgon there for the first time.

After that, Will asked, "and what does he say about this? Is this true?"

The demogorgon of course agreed with me, because hell knows what would happen if Will knew the real story. It would at least terminate our friendship.

"Even he lies!" Will growled. "Now all four of you are lying. Don't think I'll fall for that crap. Y/N, you've been acting weird since long before you disappeared. Tell me the real story."

Begrudgingly, I explained to Will that I had met the demogorgon when we first went on our breaking and entering mission to Hawkins Lab, and we had become friends after that. I explained that because he wasn't under the control of the Mind Flayer anymore, he wasn't as rabid and vicious anymore, although he did show his violent side sometimes, when 'bad guys' tried to fuck with our gang. I didn't tell him about the reality of our relationship, and just how we came to meet Eleven(she violently barged in on us while we were screwing in the basement).

By then we had reached Chelsea's house, and we stopped at the edge of the woods while she gallantly continued forth.

"Good night, peeps. Wish me luck," she said, turning and saluting as she stowed her bat in the gardening shed and went around to the front door.

Will grinned. "I will."

The rest of the way back to my house was kind of awkward, as Will kept on bantering us with questions about our 'friendship', like what it was like having a former homocidical, interdimensional alien on your side was like, what it was like meeting him and some stuff about the Mind Flayer. Will's house was sort of between mine and Chelsea's house, so he split away from us and went home after a ways, his curiosity satiated. I had gotten him not to tell Mike or the others about my out of the ordinary friend choice.
