We had been there for three days.
It must've been Thursday, or Thursday night. I didn't care. I didn't really care much about the Upside Down anymore. It should have terrified me, but it didn't anymore. I was used to it. Besides, I had my gang with me.
I could hear El playing video games in my brother's room, and I had just woken up. The Mind Flayer had been very dedicated to standing guard over Hawkins Lab, where the only portal remained. It was as though he knew we were somewhere nearby, and that it would only be a matter of time before we got desperate and went for the portal.
The night before, we had broken into a convenience store and after robbing the place trashed it. I had even wrote "Y/N was here" in spray paint that I had found. El had gotten the pleasure of blowing out all the windows. We hoped the manager wasn't returning anytime soon.
At this point, Eleven was officially addicted to video games. Every time I woke up, I could hear sound effects coming from the bedroom. I wondered how she got the motivation to get up early and start gaming, or maybe she didn't sleep at all. I was fully awake within half a minute, and I wasn't sure if the demogorgon was too, or if he was just lying still; his pulse lulled slowly against my chest. I wanted to stay like this forever, and I just might. After all, the Mind Flayer might just trap us here for eternity. I pushed that to the back of my mind. We would escape this place. I considered getting up, but there wasn't really much to do, except for scout for the Mind Flayer and his annoying-ass stooges, or break into a gas station/vandalize it, but I was still a little groggy. The demogorgon's hand moved, slowly down my midsection and up again in a rhythmic way. In response, I hooked my leg around his. I could feel a kinky sensation arising.
"Fuck yes..."
His hand snaked up my shirt, slowly pulling it away. He stroked my exposed body, and was about to say something, but instead I heard,
"AAAAAAAARRRRRGGG DEMON PUPPIES!!"
"Um what?"
Okay, so that was weird. Then I realized who the voice belonged to, and rocketed off the bed, pulling my shirt back on. The demogorgon had clearly heard it too, and recognized my intentions.
"Y/N, no!" He yelled as I ran out of the room.
He lunged after me and we pounded down the stairs, yelling to each other as though I was a bratty little sister that had played a mean joke on him, and he was trying to catch me for it.
"Stop! They're going to catch you!" He made a grab for the hood of my hoodie, but missed, as I was already out the door. I sprinted down the sidewalk like I was doing the hundred meter dash, faster than the fastest track star towards the sound of Chelsea's cussing. The door banged behind me, and I knew it wouldn't be long before the demogorgon caught up with me. I turned down the next block. Chelsea stood in the middle of the road- fighting a gang of at least half a dozen demodogs. The weapon that she used was Louisville Slugger. Typical Chelsea. The demons leaped about, snarling and howling like deranged wolves while Chelsea cussed them and cracked them with her bat when she could. One of them attacked her from behind, leaping through the air at her. I was about to shout a warning to her, but her head swiveled to one side as she glanced at a different rival, and her waist length hair, which was in a ponytail, whipped the demodog across the face. The overload of keratin surprised it, and the attacker was knocked of balance. Chelsea slugged the demonic creature, her blow accompanied by a loud crack. The demodog collapsed on the ground, twitching a few times. Quickly, I ran to the nearest garden shed and grabbed an axe before plunging into the fray. It seemed as though even more of the army had joined the fight. I swung as hard as I could with the axe and heard a satisfying crack as it buried itself between the shoulder blades of the nearest demodog. The demogorgon caught up and joined in the fight, pouncing on one of the enemy and strangling it. Suddenly all of the drones simultaneously jerked before falling to the ground. I could see El's figure down the sidewalk.
"Y/N, behind you!" Chelsea found her voice.
"It's fine, he's on our side," I replied, knowing it was just the demogorgon.
"What?" She shrieked, incredulous.
"It's a long, long story, and it shouldn't be told right here right now."
With that, I grabbed her hand and we sprinted down the sidewalk. We passed the safehouse, thinking it would be the first place that the Mind Flayer would check for us. I made a mental note to go back for my backpack once the heat was down, since it had my weapons and flashlight. By then I had let go of her hand, and we slowed to a jog. I realized I had been leading them to the school when I turned the corner to find myself in the parking lot. We slowed down to catch our breath. I searched until I could find an unlocked door and let us in. I meandered down the hallway and straight to the teacher's lounge.
"Jesus, they're motherfucking loaded," I noted when I took in the cushioned chairs and couches.
Chelsea only shrugged, as she had evidently been in here a few times. She went to the refrigerator and grabbed a soda before slumping down on one of the couches, propping her bat against it.
"Oh! Y/N, that reminds me..." Chelsea then dug in her backpack for a moment. "Mr Ullman wanted me to give you the math homework- the meth homework."
"Aww Jesus fucking Christ," I moaned loudly.
"Language," my friend chided, with smug smile.
I scowled. "Jesus having sex with Christ."
"And consider this a relief," she said. "Because when your done with that methane, you will be required to explain why you have been acting like a weirdo for the past week, and why you and El have been missing for several days, and then I find you two hiding out in the Upside Down with this- monster that was terrorizing the town last year."
The demogorgon looked up from teaching El rude and obscene sign language. "I can actually hear you, you know."
I sighed and began my homework. Fortunately, I knew the content well, and it was my only homework at the time. Unfortunately, I had even less time before I had to explain the complicated situation to Chelsea, and if I tried to do it slowly, she would know I was stalling. I really wasn't looking forward to this.
