Ah marriage. A blissful union of two souls who love each other. Right? Well even in Skyrim marriages don't always work out as expected. Here is some examples of this.
So the first time a marriage did not go well was during,well right after the wedding. I married Athis the dunmer from the companions. Maybe because I am a dunmer, maybe he being a fellow companion, or the fact I found him cute. Either way the wedding seemed to go well but before even discussing where we will live, Athis was gone! I searched all of Riften for him. Went to Jorrvaskr and no sign of him. Went to bot of my homes. Never found him, and never received any inheritance so he most likely did not die.So where the hell did he go??? He just left me and never came back! Jerk.
Hmm,maybe marrying a companion is just a terrible idea altogether. After being left at the alter by Athis I ended up marrying Farkas one day. Something happened (involving my vampirism) that made him suddenly attack me even though I was not attacking him or anyone else. I tried everything to calm him down and nothing worked. So I ended up running away until he calmed down. Only to get a bounty for being a vampire, the jerk told the guards on me! Well I went to the sanctuary in Dawnstar grabbed Cicero and went to our home in Solitude. I mean what happens when a dog goes bad and starts biting? You put him down. So I had Cicero make me a widow. In hindsight I should have made sure Blaise was sleeping so he would not witness his father getting sliced open. That may fall under misadventures of adoption and marriage gone bad. Oh well, he seemed okay after I gave him his dad's ebony dagger.
Marcurio is a nice useful decent husband. Never hurt me, never ran off. But something did happen one day. I came home from a long journey of killing Alduin to find some bandits at my house. After killing them I noticed a letter on one,a ransom note. My husband had been kidnapped. Lydia was useless inside eating some bread, and Blaise was missing as well. Read the chapter Children! to learn what happened to him. So after getting Blaise back I had to go on yet another journey to find Marcurio. And no,Gwin is not the type to pay ransom even for the one she loves. She is much more put a blade through your stomach if you kidnap her loved ones. After killing the bandits and I believe the kidnapper as well she brought her husband back home.
Cannot do a chapter of failed weddings marriage mishaps and crazed spousal disputes without including Vittori Vicci. Poor girl on her wedding day while greeting the city so happily was stabbed in the back killed by an unknown assassin! No one saw who did it, though a female dunmer was seen leaving the crime scene holding bloody dagger. To this day the killer is at large but is suspected to be part of the Dark Brotherhood, and may have been involved in assassinating the Emperor. Skyrim is such a dangerous place if you can get killed in front of a bunch of people on your own wedding without any reliable witnesses.
{Little tip unless you want to wake up having to travel the country only to find out you got married, do not enter a drinking contest with a man named Sam. Not sure what he gave me or if it is even from the mortal realm but I would never had married Moira if sober. And I can be sober after several spiced wines and an argonian blood wine. So he must have used some unholy liquor on me. Which makes sense after all it turned out he was the deadric prince of debauchery in disguise as a human. I wish I could remember all we did. I know I stole a goat sold it to a giant borrowed a wedding ring trashed a temple and fondled the statues of the goddess of beauty... oh and dared some poor guy to go into a bandit camp alone and married that hag Moira. I wonder if I did anything else. I may never know.}
