Cecilia's  POV

A few short minutes after he sat down, my mother came back from greeting the guests.

She pushed back her large oak chair, and took her place next to me at the head of the table.

Her eye brows furrowed.

"Cecilia what's wrong? You look distressed." She questioned.

"Oh nothing." I replied.  "There's just a familiar face in the crowd I would rather not be seeing."

I smiled and turned my head away from her quickly so she couldn't see that I was covering up the truth.

I wasn't exactly lying per say.

I was just hiding some important details.

The horns blared again over head, signaling the start of the brunch. The meeting would follow accordingly.

I pushed my chair back and stood, picking up my plate gingerly. I had never been good with carrying glass.

I turned around to start heading to the buffet line, but as I turned someone blocked my path.

Oh no.  I thought.  It's him again.

John's POV

I really needed to get her alone. I needed to find out why she did what she did, and why she felt so nervous around me.

I mean, not that normal people didn't feel nervous around me, but she was extremely jittery when ever she saw me.

My eyes followed her as she made her way up to the buffet table, numerous people clearing way for her, or stopping her to chat.

I hadn't noticed it before but she was the center of attention around here.

Must be because she was so beautiful.

Did I mention that she's beautiful?  Well, if I hadn't then you should just know that she is beautiful.

It be kind of weird if I asked her out since she was so spooked by me.

But what the hey, this whole situation was kind of freaking me out as well.  I slowly stood up from my chair and tried my best to walk low to the ground so nobody noticed my hair.

I slowly approached her from behind her white hair shining silver and red in he light, dancing around like little flickers of fire.

"Hey um, could I talk to you in private for a minute??"

She spun on her heels and faced me.

Her playful smile faded as her eyes grew twice in size. She clamped her mouth shut and lightly nodded her head.

I grabbed her arm and dashed out of the dining hall.
