Into the Castle

My eyes slowly opened to a red ceiling. I looked around noticing I was in a bedroom full of black and red. I sat up and saw to my right an antique Victorian-Goth dresser filled with perfumes on top. The bookcase in the corner by the windows was filled with books and a bit of cobwebs. There was a red velvet chair just beside it with a black blanket thrown over it. I ran my hands on the bedsheets, red cotton with a design of black swirls over it.
There was a knock on the door and my heart jumped a bit.
  "Come in." I said.
The door opened and it was the man who saved me, the man I saw in the woods.
"Good morning." His hair was a deep, dark brown that stood up. He had broad shoulders and was quite muscular. He wore a white shirt that was opened around his chest and black pants that kept the shirt tucked in a bit.
"Hello." My voice cracked, I wasn't sure who he was or why he saved me.
"How are you feeling?" He came closer to the bed.
My head felt like static. "I-I feel okay." I started feeling pain in my legs and arms.
"Do you remember what happened to you?" His voice was calm but deep.
I slowly shook my head no. "I only remember blacking out-." Then it hit me, all at once it hit me. The villagers tried to burn me alive.
I started shaking "W-who are you?"
He came and sat on the edge of the bed. "It's okay, you're safe here. I'm Eric."
He had a perfect jawline, and was very handsome I stared at every feature, flawless.
"I'm Elizabeth." I said. "They tried to burn me for witchery but, I'm not a witch-"
"I know you're not, I can tell. Besides, I know you didn't kill your own sister."
My heart stopped when he said those words. "How did you know? About my sister?" We stared at each other for a while. I looked deep into his eyes and saw they were a dark red.
I slowly backed away. "A-are you a lycan." My voice was shaky and my lips were dry.
"I saw you in the forest, crying. I also was there when the villagers were about to burn you." His voice got serious. "And I'm not a lycan, I'm a vampire."
My heart sank to my stomach. "A w-what!?"
He put his hand on mine. "You don't need to fear me, I am not going to hurt you. I don't feed off people, no one here does."
"There's more of you?" I asked.
He nodded, "You're going to meet them soon, but before you do, you can go freshen up. There's a warm bath, I already filled the tub and there's some clothes in the closet."
I looked at those red eyes once more. "Thank you."
He smiled showing his fangs and left.

After the relaxing bath, I went to the closet to pick out something. Everything was black and red. I decided to wear this red dress with black string tying up the top and back. Its sleeves were a silk red that had black lining around the top.
I went in the vanity mirror and pulled my long brown hair in the front. I looked down and picked up a gold antique hair brush that had a carving of a crescent moon.
  "You look nice"
I turned around and saw it was Eric along with a woman beside him. She was African American and had short black hair. She wore pants and a black shirt that was tucked in to show her weapons around her belt. Her lips were painted black and her eyes were red.
"This is Annick, she's a good friend of mine." Eric said.
"Hello, I'm Elizabeth." I examined her facial features, she seemed like a warrior.
"Hi Eli, what's your blood type?" Her voice was very fruity.
My eyes narrowed in confusion. "My what?"
Eric put his hand in front of me and turned to Annick. "She's not one of us."
Her eyes widened. "You mean to tell me she's a human? Eric are you stupid?!" She beamed.
Eric got annoyed. "Her sister was attacked by a lycan and her village was about to burn her."
Annick rolled her eyes. "Fine, so what do you plan to do? Turn her?"
Eric looked back at me and I stared right back at him.
"You must be hungry, let's eat." Eric walked out, ignoring contact with Annick.
She stared me down then followed Eric.

The dining room was huge and had two tables, a long one and a small squared one. We sat down on the black antique chairs at the squared one. Another woman walked out carrying plates. Her hair was red and long. She wore a black dress that had purple rhinestones on the sleeves.
"You must be Elizabeth, I'm Adele, Eric's sister." She smiled while shaking my hand.
I smiled back and greeted her a hello as well.
She put a plate in front of me that was filled with potatoes and bread.
"I hope you like my version of human food, we never get human guests. I'm so used to cooking for vampires." She laughed.
  I smiled. "It's no worry."

We all ate our food quietly, the food was very delicious considering a vampire made it.
"So a lycan attacked your sister huh?" Annick said.
Eric looked at her sharply. "Annick."
"Have you ever even seen a lycan?" Annick wiped her mouth with a napkin.
"N-no I haven't." I said quietly. I wasn't sure why she was asking all these questions.
"They're deadly, once they see you, they'll kill you without hesitation." Her voice became loud.
"Annick. Enough." Eric beamed. "No lycan will come near her, not on my watch."
It was quiet for a while until Adele got up and collected the plates.
"My condolences for your sister Elizabeth." She said.
I looked down and said nothing, I only pictured all the blood and all the horror. I tried to picture a lycan but if it's how bad Annick says it is, then the creature must be unbearable.
