My First Kill

The next morning I woke up realizing I was in Eric's bed. I slowly sat up and looked around, Eric was no where to be seen. I got out of bed and decided to go downstairs. I went into the library and saw Eric sitting at the desk.
  "Good morning." I smiled.
He looked up and smiled back. "Morning."
"Where is everyone?" I sat down on the chair next to him.
"Adele is with Alex and Annick is hunting." Eric replied.
"Yea, Adele freed Alex from the chamber." I said nervously.
  He chuckled. "I'm not surprised."

All of a sudden I felt light headed. My body shifted and I grabbed the desk to balance myself.
"Woah are you okay?" Eric turned to me and turned my face to him.
He stared into my eyes. "Have you been drinking blood? Or feeding on animals?"
  "No, why?" I asked.
"Your getting crystal eyes. You need to regain your strength." Eric replied.
I looked down confused. "What's crystal eyes?"
Eric got up and went to the bookcase and pulled out a huge book, only it wasn't a book. It was filled with packs of blood. "It's when your body doesn't get enough blood, your eye color starts fading and eventually your eyes turn crystal clear." Eric replied. He opened the pack and poured it into a glass. "Drink." He said while handing it to me.
I stood up too quickly and grabbed the cup. My head went to the floor and I dropped the glass everywhere.
Eric took me in his arms and he pushed his sleeve up. "Bite."
  I nodded no.
"Elizabeth, you'll die." Eric beamed. "Now bite." He put his arm to my mouth.
My fangs came out and I bit into his arm and started to feed. I felt the blood glide smoothly on my tongue. I started pushing his arm away because I didn't want to take all his blood but he kept it in my mouth.
Eventually he let me go. Blood was pouring down my mouth but I felt so much better and stronger. I looked up at him while placing my hand on his face. We stared into each other's red eyes until he looked away and helped me back on my feet.

When Annick and Adele came back we all sat and had lunch together. Adele had made chicken and salad with of course some blood dressing.
"Adele we're training later?" Annick asked.
Adele nodded no. "I want to relax Annick."
Annick rolled her eyes and drank some blood. "You've been relaxing all morning with Alex."
"Take Elizabeth for once." Adele beamed.

  "Not happening." Eric replied.
Both Annick and Adele flared at him.
"Eric, it's just training. She can learn abilities and such." Adele said.
Eric thought about it. "Okay, but we must stay away from villagers."
I looked at him and slightly smiled.

I put on black pants and a long sleeved black shirt. I tucked it in my pants and wore a belt around me that had a pocket for a knife. I put on my cloak and went downstairs. Everyone was by the door, ready to go hunt.

It was raining outside so we all wore capes with hoods. We walked through the forest. It was hard to be quiet, our feet kept stepping in puddles. Annick put down her hood and passed  me a blade.
"Don't hurt yourself now." She said.
I gave her a cold stare. "I'll try."

We continued walking carefully when all of a sudden a gunshot was heard close by. We all stopped and looked around. All we could hear was the rain pouring down upon us. Eric came close to me and pulled out a knife. I held my blade tightly in my sweaty palms. I was scared but also anxious to show them I can fight.
"Eric it's probably some villagers hunting deer." Annick sighed.
Eric turned to her and shushed her. We stayed still and silent until we heard something running towards us.
My heart started beating faster and faster. Eric pulled me behind him and got out another knife.
It came closer, till finally it was in front of us, a villager holding a gun. He looked at all three of us with fear in his eyes.
"It's going to kill me!" He beamed. He ran to Annick but she pointed her blade to him. He then ran to me and started pulling my arms.
"Help me! Please Miss!" He took a closer look at my eyes and backed up. "V-vampires!" His body started to shake. I took a step closer to try and help him but before I knew it, a gun was facing me.
All of a sudden a knife went through the villagers neck. Blood spilled down his dirty clothes. He dropped his gun and fell to the ground.
I turned around and saw it was Eric who threw the knife. "Why did you do that? I could've helped him." I said.
Eric's eyebrows narrowed. "He had a gun to your head. He could've killed you. I would do it again if I had to."
Before I can answer a large creature jumped from the bushes. A lycan stood before us.
It growled showing its bloody sharp teeth. It's yellow eyes glared into mine.
Annick grabbed her blade started swinging at the lycan. Eric ran and stabbed it in the side. The lycan growled in pain but pulled the knife out. Annick pulled out a sword and tried to slit its throat. The lycan grabbed her and threw her into a some trees.
"Annick!" I screamed. I tried to run to her but Eric grabbed me.
  "You stay here!" He yelled.
He took my blade and ran to the lycan. Within five seconds Eric was thrown to the ground, dropping the blade.

Annick slowly got up and Eric tried to stand but they were badly bruised. I grabbed the blade from the ground. The lycan grabbed my legs and started dragging me across the ground.
  "No!" I screamed.
Eric quickly stood up. "She's one of us! You can't take her!" He picked up a rock and threw it at the lycan's face. In an instant I shot the blade towards the lycan. It howled in pain and fell to the ground. I had stabbed it in the heart.
"Holy shit." Annick came towards me. "You got good aim."
I slowly got up. My arms were muddy and my hair was wet. I turned to see if Eric was ok. He was already staring at me.
  "Good aim." He said.

When we got back to the castle, I took a hot bath. It was hard to get all the mud out but I managed. Passing by Eric's room, I noticed he was struggling to aid his wounds from the hunt. His back was full of cuts. He groaned in pain and threw the cloth down. I slowly walked in.
"Let me help you with that." I said.
Eric slowly turned around. "Do you know how to stitch wounds?"
I nodded yes. "Every woman in the village was obliged to learn how to aid a wound and how to stitch one up."
I took the rubbing alcohol and placed it on a cloth. "This is gonna sting a little."
I dabbed the wounds with the cloth. Eric groaned in pain.
"That villager, he was scared." I spoke.
Eric sighed. "Elizabeth, he had a gun to your head. I wasn't going to take any chances."
I took the needle and started stitching one wound. "We didn't have to kill him."
"Villagers don't like our kind. They take one look at us and the torches and pitchforks come out." Eric said. "Just look at what happened to you, your village thought you killed your own sister so they tried to burn you."
Eric had a point. Even my own mother did nothing. She just stood there a watched me. I needed to know why.
I finished one of the wounds and Eric turned around. He had another deep cut on his chest. His abs and arms were very muscular. I ran my hand over his smooth skin. His character alone had a strong and captivating presence. I felt his eyes on me as I began stitching the wound. I glanced back in his eyes and my cheeks turned red. The silence was comforting, and so was he.
