The next morning I woke up feeling a bit better. I no longer felt weak instead, I felt energized. I got out of bed and went to the bathroom. I stood in front of the mirror and examined myself. I was pale, paler than before. I opened my mouth and ran my tongue over my sharp teeth. I slowly went closer to the mirror to look at my eyes. They were a dark red, as dark as those roses Eric showed me yesterday.
I decided to get dress and grab a bite to eat downstairs. I put on a red dress that was off the shoulders and I pulled my hair in the front. I looked at the vanity and picked up the red lipstick, debating if I should put some on since it seems all the vampire women here wear it. I sighed and started putting some on, and it made me realize that I was actually a vampire now.
I went downstairs to the kitchen where Annick and Adele were. They seemed to be drinking wine until I looked closer and saw it was actually blood. Annick had black gloves on and a black studded jacket while Adele wore a long purple dress. Both wore lipstick, Annick's was black and Adele's was a dark red.
I sat down across Annick. "Morning."
Both their eyes were wide. Annick examined me and Adele tried to make it look like she wasn't staring at my eyes.
"You're a vampire?!" Adele beamed.
Annick rolled her eyes at her. "No she's a troll." She sat up. "Of course she's a vampire!"
Adele hissed at her while showing her fangs and then she looked at me. "How do you feel? Have you eaten?"
"I'm okay, and no not yet, that's why I came here." I said shyly.
Adele immediately stood up. "Well I'll heat up some food for you." She walked to the kitchen and started going through the cabinets.
"So," Annick leaned onto the table and looked at me sharply. "You're a vampire now. Will you train to fight?"
I looked at her confused. "Fight for what?"
She laughed. "Exactly what I though, and I mean to fight in the Blood Moon."
"She isn't going to fight anyone." Adele said while coming in and placing a glass of blood in front of me. "Drink up honey, you'll need it."
Annick rolled her eyes and stood up, heading for the door.
Adele looked up, "Where are you going?"
Annick turned around. "To train."

She left and it was now just Adele and me. Adele went into the kitchen and brought back a plate that had a steak and some potatoes. I thanked her and started eating.
"I don't think Annick likes me so much." I said.
Adele looked at me with a smile. "She's like that to everyone, don't take it so personal."
I looked down blankly at my food. "I was thinking it's cause maybe she likes Eric."
"You think she likes him?" Adele bursted out laughing. "Not even close, Annick is not interested in men."
I looked up at Adele. "So, she likes women?"
Adele nodded.

After eating, I decided to go to the library and browse around at the books. I went to go sit on the sofa until I saw Eric sitting. He was wearing a black shirt with its sleeves pulled up.
"Sorry I didn't mean to disturb you." I said.
Eric looked up. "Not at all, come sit."
I sat down next to him and he came closer to me to see my eyes. "How are you feeling?"
I sat up a bit. "Good, well a lot better at least."
He smiled slightly. "Yea you passed out yesterday."
I looked down a bit embarrassed. "Am I supposed to hunt now?" I asked nervously.
Eric nodded no. "We have Annick who does that."
"What about my training?" I asked.
"Training for what?" Eric questioned. "The Blood Moon?" You won't be training cause it's not your fight."
I stood up. "Of course it's my fight, they killed my sister!"
Eric got up and his smile faded. "No, it's not. I am taking care of it." He headed for the door.
"This is my fight, it's for my sister the same way it is for your mother!" I shouted.
Eric spun around, grabbed my arms pinned me on the wall angrily. "Don't say another word. You don't understand what those creatures are made of so don't you ever try to disrespect me for the sake that I'm protecting you." He let go of me then backed up.
I didn't know how to react, part of me felt like he was right to protect me but the other part of me felt useless. Before I could speak there was loud chatter coming from outside. Eric walked out and I followed. It was Adele and a man hugging and kissing each other.
"Elizabeth come, meet my boyfriend his name is Alex." Adele beamed as she ran up to me.
I went up to him and slightly smiled. His hair was really short. I could tell he was a vampire from his eyes. He wore a red shirt and black pants. For some reason it was as if I knew him
  "Hello." I said politely.
He looked up. "Hey there Elly."
He had quite an attitude but I ignored him. I looked over at Eric who didn't seem too happy.
"Hey Eric, what's up?" Alex walked up to him. "You gained weight? Looks like you've been having a great feast. I heard you feasted on Elizabeth last night." He slapped Eric's arm as a joke.
Eric looked at him with a slight smile. He then punched Alex across the face. "Put him in the chamber." He told the guards.
Adele ran to Alex. "No! Let him stay, he was only joking Eric."
"This is my castle, and I will be greeted with respect, not idiocy." Eric growled.
I put my hand on Eric's arm. "Eric, I'm sure he didn't mean it-"
He shoved my arm off and walked away. He then turned to the guards. "Put her in the chamber too."
My eyes widened. The guards came to me and gripped my arms. "Get off me!" I yelled.
"Eric isn't this a little too much?" Annick asked.
He turned around and hissed at her. "Do you want to be next?"
  She nodded no.
"Good." Eric replied.

The chamber was cold and had four cages. The walls were full of vines and there were no windows. Alex was thrown into the one next to me.
I looked at him and he seemed upset. "Why does Eric hate you?"
Alex looked up. "Your lover? Oh I don't know maybe because I'm dating his sister."
I rolled my eyes. "He's not my lover."
The sound of footsteps were coming from the stairs. It was Adele.
"Don't tell Eric I freed him. I'm taking him out of the castle. I'll try to convince Eric to free you when I come back." She unlocked Alex's cage and the both ran up the stairs.
I sat down on the floor and waited for hours, but no one came. I started to fall asleep until I heard a noise against the bars across me.
I looked closer and saw a doll. She had blonde hair in pigtails and blue eyes. Her dress was a light blue with tiny ribbons scattered around. Her face was full of cracks and dirt. I found it terrifying.
I tried not to pay attention to it, but thoughts clouded my mind on why there was a doll here in the first place. I looked back at the cage and noticed she was gone. I heard a child's laugh next to me and I turned swiftly. She was in the cage next to me now and she was standing. I slowly backed up onto the wall. Her head was facing me and I never felt so scared in my life.
The lights started to flicker, I looked to see her but she was gone. All of a sudden I felt something on my shoulder and shivers went up my spine. I turned and saw her on me only this time her face was bloody.  I stood up and ran to the bars and tried to tug them. I started screaming for help but no one could hear me. Her head was spinning as she climbed up my leg.
"HELP! SOMEONE HELP ME! PLEASE." I started shaking from fear and tears ran down my face.
Someone started running down the stairs, it was Eric. He opened the cage. "Bloo! Deditionem!" He yelled.
I didn't know what that meant, it probably meant to leave or surrender but it worked. She crawled back to her cage.
I sat there covering my eyes, my whole body was shaking. Eric ran to me and wrapped his arms around me. He started caressing my back while trying to calm me down.
I buried my face in his chest and held onto him tightly. I didn't want to let him go.

We were sitting in the greenhouse with no words being passed back and forth. I know what I saw and Eric knows what it is. I was traumatized, my heart was racing and my head was spinning.
"Her name is Bloo, she belonged to a little girl." Eric showed me a photograph of the girl holding the doll. The girl had blonde hair too, but her eyes were green. "The little girl used to live here with my parents but I was young and hardly saw her."
I took the photo and examined it. "What happened to the little girl?" I asked.
Eric sighed. "She died. Her doll was all that was left so I put it in the chamber because I found it terrifying myself."
Shivers crept up my back and goosebumps appeared on my arm. I didn't know what to say, besides, Eric was the one who put me there in the first place.
"I'm sorry Elizabeth. I lost my temper and I didn't mean to take it out on you." He looked down. "I may come off mean to Alex but trust me I know what I'm doing."
I looked at him. "Alex seems like a nice person though, and it seems he's really trying to get your approval."
"It's not that, it's just Adele has been hurt many times by reckless vampires. I don't want to see her get hurt again especially now that I need her to concentrate on bigger things, like the war." Eric ran his hand through his hair and sighed.
"Well how long have they been together?" I questioned.
"Three years, maybe four." He replied.
I smiled. "You have nothing to worry about then, and if he is bad, it's Adele's job to figure it out for herself. I think you should maybe give it a chance."
Eric looked up. "Looks like you know lots about love." I could hear the sarcasm in his voice.
I rolled my eyes and smiled. We stared at each other for a couple minutes until I looked away.
"Anyways," Eric stood up. "I have work to do with Annick. I'm sure Adele will be back to keep you company."
I wanted to ask what kind of work, but I decided to bite my tongue. Instead, I nodded okay and watched him leave. Part of me wanted to ask if I could even go with them. I felt that no matter what danger there was, I would be safe with Eric.
