Wildest Dreams | Gilbert Blythe

day one

Luna dreaded getting up at 6 in the morning everyday, there's no doubt about it. This week in particular, is a week she wished would go differently. Last Friday Luna had grown frustrated at Gilbert, who had been trying to get the girl's attention for the last 3 years, so she decided to finally give him a chance. She had told the older boy that she would give him one full week to win her over, and boy was he going to take advantage of that. Although as soon as the words came out of her mouth she knew she was going to regret it, but maybe she would find enjoyment out of the boy's antics.

As soon as Luna stepped out of the Geraldo household, flowers were immediately shaken in front of her face. Already knowing who the secret admirer was, she let out a loud sigh. "Hello Gilbert, these flowers are lovely. Thank you" "Anything for a beautiful lady such as yourself." he responded while smiling at the girl who he had been head over heels for. With the small interaction long gone, the younger girl began her walk to school, but not without Gilbert accompanying her while trying to make small talk. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all, she thought as they arrived at the school. As Gilbert opened the door for her, she smiled at the small gesture with a tint of red flowing throughout her cheeks.

"Hey Luna, here I thought you'd like it". Gilbert startled her that's for sure, before he had gotten to her, she was eating her lunch in peace. "Oh yeah uh it's an apple from our orchard" he blurted out remembering that he didn't tell her what it was, despite her already knowing. She laughed at his nervousness causing him to blush, "thank you Gilbert, it looks delicious" she commented as she took a bite from the apple and instantly fell in love.

As Gilbert starred at the girl, his adoration for her seemed to expand. He couldn't help how he felt, he had always been attracted to her for as long as he could remember. She's always had him wrapped around her finger. So when Luna told him, she would give him a week to prove himself, he knew he had to win her over.

"Luna wait up!" Gilbert called out as he ran towards the girl who had begun her trek home. "Can't let you go home by yourself when there are dragons that need slaying" he laughed as he scratched the back of his head, mentally groaning at what he had just said. Luna on the other hand thought it was cute of him to walk her home, despite him doing it constantly. It was different this time. "Oh yes I can't forget my knight in shining armor" she exaggerated as she threw her hand over her head, giggling as she did so.

For a while they walked in silence. It wasn't an awkward silence where neither knew what to say or do to keep the conversation going. No, it was a comforting silence, one where you didn't needs words to enjoy each other's presence or the walk itself. Sadly enough though, Luna's home came into view and as Gilbert noticed it, he sighed wishing he had said more. "Gilbert?" the brunette asked while waving her hand over his face to gain his attention. "Yeah?" he immediately said as he was snapped out of his thoughts. "I said this is where we part ways, thank you for walking me home. I hope to see you tomorrow morning?" she giggled as she said the first part remembering how the boy was lost in thought. "Of course you will, I can't let my dear princess roam the woods alone" he joked as she nodded and left.

Gilbert didn't like the way his first day went, but he knew the next 4 would be better than this one. So as he started on home, he thought about all the ways he could win her over.
