The next morning, Lindsey helped Stevie get ready to go to the doctor's. Right afterwards rhey would go and pick up Exavior and then they would go to Jess and Barbara's so they could make a small appearance. Stevie was supposed to be on bedrest, but she still had the week to go. One little visit wouldn't hurt anybody. She and Lindsey could also tell the news. He was relieved when he found out he wasn't the very last to know. Technically Barbara and Jess weren't either. They still had to tell Lindsey's side of the family and a few other important beings. However, Lindsey and Stevie both only had their minds on one thing... their child. It was a whole new thing now.
As Lindsey drove them to the clinic---near the hospital, Stevie ended up falling aleep for the ride. It was a little early in the morning and that was so they could just get it over with. Either way, it didn't make a difference. Stevie just needed rest.
Every so often, Lindsey would look at her and smile. He felt bad that there was a lot of difficulties in the process for Stevie, but since he had found out, he was optimistic. He was in love with the thought of Stevie holding his child. After thinking about everything, he was actually happier that he didn't find out sooner. He didn't have to wait as long if she was nearly half done. Her sixteenth week would mark fourth month, so that meant only six more to go on his part.
...
Stevie had woken up during the drive to the clinic. She was feeling extremely drained and tired. But she was prepared to get off the car when they got there.
Lindsey held her close to him when they were walking. They went slow and steadily because, she technically wasn't supposed to be moving. Getting to where they needed, straight away they were assigned a room. Like said, it was still early so they had privileges at the morning.
"Good morning Miss Nicks," the doctor came in to her room as he put his white coat on.
"Good morning," she managed to flash a smile. She was too tired to even function.
The doctor chuckled deeply as he sat down on his chair. "By the way, I am doctor Wilson," he stuck his hand out to meet Lindsey.
"Hi, Lindsey Buckingham," he shook it gratefully. He really saw a sharpness to the doctor and he liked it. He could see his girl had been in good hands for the last couple months.
"Boyfriend," Stevie pointed lazily at Lindsey to let the doctor know who he was.
"Ah, I see," he held a smile. "Good to meet you," he added. "Alright Miss Nicks, you know the drill... would you be so kind as to moving your blouse?" he asked.
She turned flat on her back and did as asked as the doctor turned the monitor on and got his supplies set up. Everything had been away for obvious reasons, so things were barely getting set up.
Lindsey kind of smiled to himself when he saw her baby bump. She was still small and nobody would be able to tell, but they could.
The doctor then lathered her tummy with the gel and grabbed the transducer to scope around. "What's baby up to?" he barely mumbled to himself.
Lindsey had his eyes focused on the screen as he and Stevie held hands.
Stevie was dosing in the process, but her ears were still on. She had seen the other day so she wasn't totally worried. But she was listening intently to the waves.
"Alright, so the heart rate went down again," the doctor replied after analysing for a few minutes. "I'm gonna put you on an IV again. That seemed to help the first time and if it does this time, then we can do it for the week while your on bedrest, yes?"
She nodded. "Do I have to do it all day and all night? does it have to be here?"
"I wanna try it one of two ways: we can put the IV in today and let it flow like Thursday and I can take it off. But then I would like to see you tomorrow, we can check the heart rate and see if we can do it like that or if it needs to be constant. Like I said, we caught this early enough to find remedies."
