"So, we have some news..." Stevie lingered enthusiastically with a smile, but then stopped before the attention could be on her.
Jess kind of focused on her while her mother was focused on Exavior and was babbling away with him. Jess kind of noticed she wanted to say something, but waited to speak up because, Stevie kind of turned to Lindsey abruptly.
She put her hand on his knee and kind of turned to whisper something.
Lori was also focused on Stevie because, she didn't know she had planned to tell, but she was curious about what she was going to say.
Christopher didn't really blink twice about it. He had a feeling that was her reasoning for showing in the first place, otherwise she wouldn't have come at all.
Stevie was still contemplating on how far she was going to tell. She just had a feeling she would get asked why she didn't say something before, and therefore she would have to explain her fear and go back in time and tell her parents that awful memory. She turned back to the group a bit and paused.
"What's up, honey?" Jess finally said something which sent them all to look at her once again.
The funny thing about Barbara and Jess was that, she could scream at him if she was angry, but once he calmly put his foot down; silence would be upon them and what he said went. A room could be fighting or just noisy and somebody could try anything. But once Jess spoke---that was it. He didn't have to yell nor would he have to put up a fight. Anybody and everybody would listen and follow his orders if he had them. He was one of the smartest and wisest men in the world, so people were bound to pay attention.
"Mm..." Stevie kind of mumbled. She had never been so nervous to speak in front of a group in her whole life. Even when she first became a teacher and she had her very first class she was more calm. "Uh well, we have some news..." she paused, letting out a mental breath.
Lindsey gave her hand a squeeze.
"Well, we're gonna have baby," she smiled after the words left her mouth. It was becoming real and the thought of a child growing within her made her excited again. "... I'm pregnant," she followed up.
"Oh baby, that's so wonderful!" Barbara stood and hugged her still seated daughter.
"That is great, sweetheart," Jess smiled and stood up. While his wife was hugging their daughter, that would give him a moment to congratulate Lindsey.
Lindsey stood to hug him gratefully. He had a handsome smile and the men talked very briefly.
Lori stayed by her friend and embraced Stevie as her mother was hugging her and beaming.
Eventually Jess and Barbara switched, so Jess could hug his daughter and Barbara could embrace Lindsey.
Christopher lightly explained to Exavior that he was going to get a new brother or sister and he was very excited.
"I'm so happy," Barbara beamed at Lindsey.
He chuckled lightly. "Me too."
"How far are you, sweetheart?" Barbara asked.
There it is! Stevie thought. "Well, I'm gonna be four months on Tuesday."
"Four months? honey, that's crazy," Barbara said.
"How come you didn't tell us?" her dad asked.
Lindsey sat back down by Stevie's side.
"Well, I didn't find out till last, last week," she lied. She was not ready to tell her parents about the dreadful past.
