“Idalis, are you seriously going to get that shirt?” Kylie asks me uncertainly. “You are risking everything we stand for.”
And that was true. I was risking everything that Kylie and I both stood for. We didn’t like wearing anything that had to do with our obsessions, especially if they were internationally famous boy bands like One Direction. Because we knew that we would get at least one girl come up to us and start talking to us about them, and they would turn out to be some stupid fake fan.
“Why not?” I shrug. “Everyone is wearing them now, even Tumblr fangirls, so it doesn’t matter anymore.” Kylie never wore anything related to her obsessions because she liked to not let people now that she was a fangirl. It ruined her smart-looking/tomboy-ish image that she had created for herself. But I knew I was somewhat rubbing off on her since she started to dress a little more girlier.
She just shrugged, letting the topic slip since she wasn’t one to keep arguing. She pushed her glasses up her nose, looking around the store with distaste. We were in a jewelry store and everything in here was sparkling from the bright lights. We leave the store, her making a sigh of relief as we walk out, to head towards Delia’s. I immediately grabbed the tank top that I’ve been dying to get and I look back towards my best friend who was looking at the jeans. “Do you want one?” I ask her, holding the tank top up.
“I want to save my money for something else,” she says, shrugging.
I grab a tank top and before she could protest, I paid for the shirts, ushering her into the changing rooms so we could wear them. We walked out arm in arm, laughing about how the employees had looked at us as we walked out with different shirts. “So what store do you want to go to next?” I ask her, looking around for a store that was more her style.
Immediately, she spots Urban Outfitters and drags me inside, saying something about some hats. I wander off, looking around the store when my face bumps into someone’s chest, making me stumble and fall flat on my butt.
“Sorry about that,” they apologize with in a British accent.
“It’s cool,” I reply, rubbing my backside. I look up and I become captivated by the pair of bright green eyes looking at me with concern.
“Are you okay?” he asks, offering me a hand. I gladly take it, standing up and wincing at the throbbing pain. “I’m Harry, by the way.”
My eyes widen. This couldn’t just be a coincidence; the guy’s name was Harry and he had green eyes. “You’re Harry Styles?” I whisper in awe, looking at him.
“Yeah,” he grins. “And you are?”
“Idalis,” I reply, blushing as he continued smiling at me.
“Well Idalis, I really like your shirt,” he tells me, pointing at it. And at that moment, I remembered that I was wearing my 1D shirt.
Suddenly, Liam comes running up to him and saying excitedly, “Harry, I just met the amazing girl I’ve ever seen.” In my mind, I hoped that he had spotted Kylie because I knew how much she liked him.
“Where is she?” Harry asks. “Oh, and Liam, this is Idalis.”
Liam waves over the girl he met before turning to me and smiling. “Nice to meet you, Idalis.” Kylie comes up next to him, wearing a fedora-esque hat and an Obey hat in her hands, smiling as her eyes landed on me. “Guys, this is Kylie.”
“I know,” I laugh. “We came here with each other; we’re best friends.”
“Well what are the chances…” Harry trails off, chuckling. “So do you ladies want to have dinner with us later? We’ll pick you up around 7?”
We both nod eagerly before giving them our addresses. We wave at them as they leave and we turn to look at each other. “Did that really just happen?”
“I think so,” I answer. “Aren’t you glad that we went to Delia’s now?” I smirk at her and we leave the mall, laughing.
